Salary Range: $43.2700 - $66.5300 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
The Vascular Ultrasound Technician II will perform a wide variety of hemodynamic evaluations for adult and pediatric patients in accordance with departmental protocols, including carotid duplex ultrasound imaging, arterial duplex imaging, venous duplex imaging, and Doppler ultrasound, plethysmography, pressure measurements, and other methodologies. They record images and perform measurements and calculations in accordance with departmental protocols. Completes preliminary report for interpreting physician. Works with hospital ADT systems, PACS, and report writer system. The Vascular Ultrasound Tech II will assist in departmental orientation of new employees. They will assist with quality assurance for structured reporting.
Essential Functions
Performs vascular ultrasound diagnostic procedures in arteries and veins of the upper and lower extremity, abdomen, and brain using color-enhanced Doppler, continuous Doppler, plethysmography, spectral analysis, Segmental pressures, B-mode and blind Transcranial Doppler on all patients under the supervision of Vascular Ultrasound Tech III or Department Manager
Accurately identifies patients, maintaining professionalism at all times while explaining procedure to patient
Takes history and physical on each patient, including history evaluating pulses and blood pressures if applicable
Performs routine maintenance and troubleshoots ultrasound equipment.
Accurately records procedures in department log book
Assists with receipt, distribution, and storage of supplies
Tailor communication to meet the customers' unique needs within the framework of departmental standards, policies and practices. Openly accept customer feedback. Respond to customer request in a timely manner. Work to eliminate barriers that interfere with providing outstanding customer service
Skilled performance of all vascular ultrasound diagnostic procedures without active supervision

Able to accurately complete all required measurements of the study in accordance with Laboratory Standards
Presents cases at monthly vascular meetings
Performs quality assurance for structured reporting
Demonstrates independence in pursuing own personal and professional development as it pertains to enhancing performance outcomes within the department and the Organization

Position may require travel between various Hoag Hospital locations and its affiliates
Ensure that quality patient care is delivered to all patients on a 24-hour basis, and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional and regulatory standards and the philosophy and goals of Hoag
Maintains composure under stressful conditions, setting an example for the staff. Consistently serves as a role model for staff; monitors their interaction with other Organization staff, patients and the public, and informs department management of events as they occur.
Demonstrates the ability to resolve problems by going to the correct source (other Vascular
Ultrasound Techs or department Management team). Based on Organization and department policies and procedures, or verbal consultation with the department (or Organization) management team, able to problem solve appropriately. Knows when to keep supervisor informed of problems that arise
Manage individual scope of work including assigned tasks and activities in a timely manner and within budget to utilize Organization resources appropriately. Recognize the opportunity to decrease the total cost of care by enabling operational efficiencies, eliminating duplication and mitigating errors
Participates in the interview and selection process of new staff members
Conducts and documents hands-on job training for employees under his/her supervision to include instruction in use and care of equipment and job-specific duties
Evaluates personnel and completes peer reviews prior to review due date
Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate of Vascular ultrasound program or able to demonstrate appropriate skill level if "on-the-job trained".
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered or registry eligible with RVT to be completed within the first year of employment.
