We are seeking a Vascular Interventional Technologist to assist the physicians during vascular interventional radiology procedures and process and store images created during the procedure. PRIMARY FUNCTION: • To perform diagnostic and therapeutic radiographic procedures according to departmental policy and guidelines SHIFT/HOURS Primary Shift - 7:00am-4:30pm 4 days a week On Call Coverage for Nights, Weekend, and Holidays PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Demonstrates complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of interventional radiology radiographic equipment. • Serves in the role of first assistant to providers perfonning invasive procedures • Ability to use various EMR computer systems and accurately enters patient information. • Maintains patient confidentiality. • Interacts for solution of "routine problems" as they may occur to ensure customer satisfaction. • Consistently uses two patient identifiers. • Attends staffmeetings and in-service programs. • Completes Mandatory education. • Perfonns assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. • Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors. • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to adult and geriatric patients • The ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs and to provide the care needed. • Perfonns other related duties as required. • Assist with the coordination ofworkflow and patient care activities. • Assists in the learning process of students and new staff in departmental procedures, quality control and radiation safety. • Demonstrates complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of contrast media injectors. • Provides excellent customer service to patients, family members, physicians and staff. • Ensures minimal exposure to oneself, other employees, patients, and the general public. • Perfonns other duties as assigned SCOPE, PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS: • Frequent contact with other Christiana Care employees, Radiologists, referring physicians, patients and their family members seeking services provided by Interventional Radiology DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED: • Nurse Manager • Radiologist EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • Completion of two-year program in Radiology Technology is required. • Associates Degree in Radiology Science is preferred • CPR Certification • Maryland State License • ARRT registered • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: • Ability to function effectively as part of a small cohesive team is critical. • Ability to work independently and respond to a stressful situation. • Ability to physically respond to a crisis situation. • Ability to interact with all types of personnel and patients. • Ability to learn new technology. • Ability to adjust work schedules and volunteer for extra shifts if workload warrants. • Ability to coordinate simultaneous examination with accuracy. • Knowledge related to radiographic positioning, procedure techniques and quality control. • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology. • Knowledge of and the ability to adhere to Radioactive Safety and protection policy and department policies, procedures and guidelines. • Skill in oral and written communication • Able to work rotational on-call time for urgent procedures SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: • ARRT registered • Maryland State License • CPR Certification PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle and stoop as per unit based Physical Demands Checklist. • Ability to assist patients to and from stretcher, wheelchair and exam table. • Prolonged standing. WORKING CONDITIONS: • Work in high volume area. • Exposure to radiation, viruses, blood borne pathogens, other pathogens, sharps, poor lighting, chemical and electrical hazards. • Exposure to seriously ill patients.
