We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Vascular Access Team at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. This position is 32 hours per week: 8 hour shifts, variable day time hours (between 7a-7p). Weekend rotation required.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion, required

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, preferred

  • At least 2 years of RN Acute Care experience, preferred

  • VA-BC (Vascular Access Board Certified) certification, preferred

  • Excellent teamwork, communication and collaboration skills

  • Proven and demonstrated autonomous critical thinking skills

The primary role of this position is to provide harm reduction education and outreach, including naloxone distribution, HIV and Hepatitis C prevention, and safer sex practices, through our needle exchange program. Responsibilities: * Assists Prevention & Healthy Living Team with needs assessments, program design, implementation and evaluation. * Prioritizes multiple tasks and projects to ensure timely completion. * Maintains data tracking spreadsheets, inputting data and performing quality assurance audits. * Maintains inventory of exchange supplies. * Provides health education, overdose prevention and harm reduction services to patients and the community. * Assists with special events and projects, communicating with partners/sponsors and ensuring availability of resources/materials. * Interacts and responds to patients and communities. * Other duties, as assigned.
