The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list.

Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until canceled. There is currently ONE position open in our Transportation Department. This is a 3 hour/day, 10 month position. Under supervision of an assigned administrator, transport students safely and efficiently to an assigned location in accordance with established routes, time schedules, and district policies and procedures; maintain vehicles in a clean and safe operating condition; and perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

Training and Experience A work history demonstrating dependability and reliability; Prior record of safe driving experience and successful interaction with children, especially children with disabilities. Work experience in an educational setting is preferred.

Licenses: Valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. First Aid and CPR Certificates Knowledge of Safe driving practices California Motor Vehicle Code and Education Code sections applicable to student transportation. Basic preventive maintenance of vehicles.

Emergency evacuation techniques for special and special education students. Two-way radio communication techniques. Computer skills to send and receive emails and to research and print information.

Basic record-keeping and report preparation skills. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

Ability to Drive a passenger vehicle safely and effectively over a variety of normal and hazardous road conditions. Observe and follow legal and defensive driving practices. Maintain order and discipline of students.

Read, interpret, and follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Read and follow road map directions. Operate vehicle emergency equipment.

Operate a two-way communication radio. Meet schedules and timelines. Maintain records and prepare simple reports.

Understand and resolve issues, complaints, or problems. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Establish and maintain professional, cooperative, and effective relationships with others. Communicate with diverse groups and individuals.
