As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will perform hands-on assembly, testing, and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatically actuated cryogenic valves, systems and components for various spaceflight systems. This position will involve you in all aspects of assembly, testing, troubleshooting and will support flight operations. Your passion for space means you're committed to the necessary quality and attention to detail required to support human space flight. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Integration, test, functional verification, and troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatically actuated cryogenic valves, systems and components

  • Intermediate and/or Depot level component experience

  • Assist engineers in reviewing and developing design concepts, tooling, test hardware and providing feedback for improvements

  • Follow, review, improve and provide feedback on work instructions for complex mechanical systems and installations

  • Safely work with chemical and/or high-pressure hazardous systems

  • Ensure tasks are performed on schedule, safely and in a professional manner

  • Rapidly adapt to changing roles while working in a challenging high-paced work environment

  • Show Innovation and accountability in the of improvement of processes and the efficiency of operations and the work area

  • Maintain inventory of parts and equipment for assembly, test and maintenance of valve related systems

  • Overtime is often required for particular integration tasks or test series

Qualifications:

  • 2 year AAS in appropriate engineering discipline and or 5 years' experience (or equivalent) in aerospace, aircraft, R&D or related industrial fields

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals

  • A Demonstrated high-level problem of solving skills working in a team equipment

  • Physically able to climb ladders and stairs

  • Lift and carry 50 lbs. for limited durations

  • Typically 45 hours per week, schedule varies depending on needs, flexibility required

  • Work weekends and overtime when necessary

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired

  • Experience with Cryogenic Systems; operation, safety and hardware; Pressure Vessels, Tubing, Fittings and Regulators

  • Fabrication and Machining to support development and test activities

  • Experience with CAD systems for review and interpretation of 3-D models

  • Certified forklift and crane operator

Your expertise will also drive improvements for valve design, maintenance, and refurbishment. Throughout the manufacturing process, you will identify, develop, and deploy methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequence and schedules. As an integral member of the team, you will support DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test and accelerate the pace of rocket engine development. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable human spaceflight. Responsibilities: * Precision assembly of rocket engine valves * Root cause and diagnostic valve disassembly, repair, and rework * Hydraulic testing for valve actuation * Nitrogen and Helium leak testing * Preparation for environmental testing * Hydroproof structural testing of components * Detailed component inspection to tolerances of 0.0001 inch * Coordinate and manage hardware inspection, cleaning, packaging, and shipping * Creating and maintaining strict cleanliness requirements (liquid/gaseous oxygen compatibility) * Support the design, procurement, installation, and integration of custom manufacturing and test equipment * Help maintain inventory of tooling and equipment * Safely work with hazardous systems, chemicals, and high-pressure operations * Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight * Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule * Support DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test * Support the development of manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing process: receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment * Identify non-conformances and escapes, support and deploy corrective actions * Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process Qualifications: * 4 to 8 years of direct valve, turbomachinery, or engine assembly experience * Mastery of precision and tight tolerance assembly * Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings * Extensive experience reading and understanding specification and detailed work instructions * Proven experience and successful track record developing new processes * Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc) * Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization * Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. * Physical Requirements: * Climb ladders and stairs * Lift and carry 50 lbs. for limited durations * Work 45 hours or more per week * Work schedule may vary and depend on hardware and testing * Remain flexible by working overtime and weekends (when necessary) Blue Origin offers a phenomenal work environment and awesome culture with competitive compensation, benefits, 401K, and relocation.
