Overview

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will design, develop and test fluid valves, fluid system components, and other mechanical systems for various fluid applications. This hands-on position involves you in all aspects of the design, assembly, test and flight operations of rocket components. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the entire design cycle of valves and fluid system components including conceptual and detailed design, thermo-fluid modeling, structural analysis, development testing and qualification

  • Generate component and assembly drawings with application of GD&T per ASME Y14.5

  • Create documentation for assembly and testing of development and flight hardware

  • Participate in new or existing fluid component and subsystem level testing including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis

  • Develop project development plans, schedules and cost estimates

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering

  • 5+ years of experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid system component design or test

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred)

  • Experience with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5)

  • Detailed knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and fittings

  • Experience with leak and flow testing of hardware using cryogenic fluids and high pressure gases

  • Knowledge of fabrication and quality control relative to various manufacturing processes

  • Working knowledge of materials and treatments

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired

  • Knowledge in the use of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred)
  • Familiar with ASME Y14.100 and Y14.41

You will share in the overall impact of manufacturing, testing, and delivering hardware for the New Glenn Orbital system. The primary responsibility will be to own individual component test campaigns, influencing the design of and resulting in qualified space components. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities * Work with a team of designers and responsible engineers to own or support development and qualification test campaigns of cryogenic, pressurized, and pneumatic flight hardware and assemblies (internally designed and supplier designed) to meet an aggressive development schedule. * Work with component owners (in-house or external suppliers) to inform the design from a test perspective. * Author and maintain detailed and repeatable test plans and procedures. * Define, procure, setup, and maintain test fixtures, test support equipment and data acquisition systems. * Conduct and/or oversee several test campaigns simultaneously to support development and qualification schedules. * Conduct data reviews to ensure successful component qualification. * Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule and technical risks. * Participate in Task Readiness Reviews and Job Hazard Assessments. Qualifications * B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or other relevant field. * 3+ years of applicable industry experience. * Strong work ethic with a high attention to detail and level of organization. * Successfully managed simultaneous projects. * Strong written, personal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at the executive leadership level and on the shop floor. * Passion for spaceflight and space exploration. * Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Desired * 5+ years of applicable industry experience. * Demonstrated technical expertise in operation, testing or production of: * Pressurized Gas Systems * Cryogenics * Fluid Systems * Instrumentation and controls * Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis, processing and reduction techniques. * Direct experience designing, operating or testing pneumatic and/or cryogenic hardware. * Strong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and fittings. * Experience with data acquisition and automations systems (LABVIEW, NI TestStand, etc.). * Experience with Environmental Testing (proof, leak, vibration, thermal, etc.) per SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540D or MIL-STD-810G.
