We have a great opportunity for a Value Stream Supervisor at our Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Denver location. Located just outside Boulder in the Colorado Technology Center, we offer a World Class facility and competitive benefits package.

The Value Stream Supervisor (VSS) is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations on the production floor in their particular assigned value stream product line. The VSS is responsible for ensuring safety comes first, and addressing production issues in a timely manner. This position will be key in facilitating continuous production improvements in conjunction with the Operations Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learns and maintains an in-depth understanding of all production processes in their particular assigned value stream and regularly audits compliance to standard work instructions.

  • Manages Group Lead activities; requires identifying the appropriate indicators to measure cell performance as a part of the overall value stream. Sets targets, verifies results and supports the Group Leads in identifying and implementing countermeasures.

  • Manages SWAT Team members to provide priorities for required activities; includes execution of training plans, implementation of improvement activities and running tests on new product and tools.

  • Identifies continuous improvement ideas to prioritize and drive improvement efforts in paperwork flow, inventory accuracy, standard work, 6S efforts, and quality control.

  • Ensure on-time delivery standards are met.

  • Manages production Leads to sustain change in areas such as safety, quality, and 5S standardization, adhering to standards, and encouraging initiative to improve all processes.

  • Identifies and works to eliminate non-value added steps in various areas of the production process

  • Works daily with all departments to ensure proper execution of the workflow and avoid communication breakdowns; jumps in to resolve the situations as needed.

  • Participates in all levels of recruitment and disciplinary actions of their staff.

  • Conducts annual performance reviews for all staff members.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

This position requires a Bachelor's degree preferably with an emphasis in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering. This position should have at least 1 year supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization both written and verbal; must be able to effectively collaborate to drive cultural change.

  • Strong leadership, mentoring and organizational skills.

  • Ability to effectively train all levels of employees.

  • Must have a high level of attention to detail, the ability to multitask and excellent problem solving skills.

  • Strong knowledge of 5S lean tools (such as 7 Wastes, 5 Why's, Daily Management, Flow, Pull, SOP's, Visual Management, Kaizen, SMED and Standard work) and taking a continuous improvement approach.

  • Knowledge of materials and material requirements is helpful.

  • Mechanical aptitude including CNC skills is helpful.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • ERP experience a plus

  • Ability to promote continuous change priorities while achieving desired results.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve set goals on time and within budgetary constraints.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Equipment Used

This position is located in a manufacturing facility which requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, squatting, twisting, and bending. This position requires approximately 80% of time spent on the production floor and 20 % in a general office environment. Requires lifting up to 50 lbs.

Health and Safety PPE Requirements

  • Safety Glasses and hard toe safety shoes to be worn at all times when on the production floor

  • Must wear appropriate PPE for all work activities performed

Within this work unit, the Stream and Lake Protection Program exists to develop and administer the state's Instream Flow and Natural Lake Level Program by correlating the activities of mankind with some reasonable preservation of the natural environment through the appropriation, acquisition, and protection of water, water rights and interests in water; and to provide expertise on water quantity and water rights matters by developing strategies for the Water Conservation Board and other state and federal agencies to ensure the wise and beneficial use of Colorado's limited water resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the state of Colorado - both now and into the future. Currently, the work unit provides protection for approximately 9,500 miles of streams and 486 natural lakes within the state. Description of Job OPEN TO STATE OF COLORADO RESIDENTS ONLY This position exists to provide advice, support, and guidance to the CWCB, the CWCB staff, and the Office of Attorney General regarding management and protection of instream flow water rights utilizing sound engineering principles and professional judgment. This position conducts complex engineering and hydrologic analyses to determine diversion requirements, transmission losses, evaporation losses, historical consumptive use, ground water, and surface water return flows, lagged timing impacts, and the general hydrologic regime required for the acquisition, appropriation, and protection of instream flow and natural lake level (ISF/NLL) water rights. This position provides advice, writes expert reports, represents the CWCB at court-ordered meetings of the experts and at mediations, and provides expert testimony at depositions and in water court trials by analyzing and critiquing hydrological models/analyses developed by consulting engineers or by preparing independent analyses to prevent adverse impact on the ISF/NLL water rights. In addition, this position functions as a staff authority to the Board and to the Board staff on water resources engineering by providing technical expertise and guidance/direction for the agency in matters related to the exercise of water rights and water development. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Water Rights Protection 65% * Protects CWCB's water rights by analyzing water resources plans/models/analyses developed by water users' consulting engineers to simulate complex hydrologic systems in support of water development, water right applications, plans for augmentation, changes of water rights, and substitute water supply plans * Determines deficiencies of plans, computer models, and analyses, and recommends modifications to make the plans work without adversely impacting instream flow and natural lake level water rights Technical Expertise 30% * Provides technical expertise and guidance to the Board, the Board's staff and the Attorney General in water resources engineering * Utilizes appropriate computer software to perform analyses, or by retaining and directing consulting engineers to prepare engineering analyses for the appropriation, acquisition, and protection of instream flow and natural lake level water rights * Assists the Attorney General in trial preparation, including preparing engineering reports and water court exhibits, as well as providing expert testimony in water court trials to protect the Board's existing ISF water rights or to change the use of acquired water rights to instream flow use * Provides expert opinions and conclusions and provides reports, memoranda, and exhibits in water court to defend the CWCB's positions, policies, and statutory responsibilities related to instream flow water rights Project Management and Coordination 5% * Provides project management and project coordination for special projects, including studies evaluating and analyzing water rights to be acquired by the Board for instream flow use. * Develops and reviews proposed work plans and quarterly updates, develops project budgets and timely submittal of invoices, project updates * Provides project administration, planning, management and implementation activities. Conditions of Employment * Former employees of the State of Colorado MUST have concluded employment in good standing to be eligible for rehire. * Must possess and maintain a valid and current Colorado Driver's License. * Must be willing and able to travel to attend meetings that may require overnight travel Preferred Qualifications Experience in: (1) reviewing water court resumes, water court applications, proposed rulings and related engineering reports; (2) negotiating settlements of water court cases with water court applicants and their engineers and attorneys; (3) preparing expert witness reports for water court cases and testifying as an expert on water rights matters in depositions and / or water court; and (4) calculating water depletions, return flow obligations, historical consumptive use of water rights, and replacement water availability for water court cases and substitute supply plans. Demonstrated knowledge of Colorado's Instream Flow and Natural Lake Level Program, how the Program is implemented, and water rights administration issues related to instream flow water rights.
