Value Analysis Nurse
The RN in this position will possess strong analytical and spreadsheet skills and an understanding of the vendor process. The RN will be helping the clinician to navigate the process of requesting new products and also changes in product brands. This will entail strong communication skills, attending information sessions, working with committees, researching product reviews and providing a high level presentation of cost analysis to committee members. The RN is the liaison between value analysis and contracting and legal for purchasing contracts.
Responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, and management of systems that facilitate standardization of medical supplies, and equipment; utilizing the value analysis process. Supports the strategic vision of the organization through evidence-based evaluation of clinical supply quality, contract compliance, standardization, waste stream reduction and supply chain cost containment.
Serves as liaison between Supply Chain Management and nursing and clinical staff to ensure cost-effective utilization of products.
Supports product standardization, utilization and clinical improvement efforts through consultation with staff, facilitation of groups, application of value analysis techniques and the presentation of data.
Performs research and uses clinical knowledge in both formal and informal consultation with committees to improve and guide patient care processes through clinically appropriate standardization of supplies.
Participates in Value Analysis Teams. Provides evidence based quality recommendations to ensure quality products resulting in the most favorable cost. Identifies costsavings through process improvement, market data and best practice indicators.
Collaborates with Director of Nursing Education and the Center for Nursing Excellence to assess, design, implement, and evaluate educational activities for the implementation of new products and procedures.
Contributes to the partnership among care givers, patients and families to provide safe and effective care.
Participates in product evaluations throughout DHH.
Ensures all trials and product evaluations are objective and conducted in a professional manner.
Works closely with Data Analyst and Contract Utilization colleagues to validate data and create contracting strategies based on clinical need/acceptance of products.
Collaborates with departments to monitor and report on compliance of implemented changes in products. Performs audits and analysis of data to identify areas for improvement and to enhance decision making on product selection and clinical practices.
Communicates Value Analysis process and build relationships. Encourages participation, creativity and enthusiasm for the Value Analysis process.
Maintains visibility in clinical areas and sound working relationship with all staff.
Utilizes Value Analysis work-flow software to manage projects and product requests.
Supports Value Analysis projects as part of NEAH, DHH, or others.
Performs other duties as required.
Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical role required.
Master degree in Business or Healthcare preferred.
Financial experience preferred
Experience with Value Analysis/Supply Chain, preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, and Excel)
Project Management experience.
Experience in cost containment or expense management activities preferred
Command of Patient Safety & Regulatory Guidelines
Strong interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to drive consensus; strong written and verbal skills.
Ability to interface and work closely with physicians and other clinical personnel
Must be flexible with the ability to work independently and effectively as part of a collaborative team.
