Valuation Manager

Location : Houston, Texas

Hudson RPO has an exceptional opportunity for a Valuation Manager, for a worldwide leader who is recognized as a premier accounting, tax, financial advisory and consulting organization (ranked in top 10). This individual is responsible for leading, executing and delivery of challenging valuation engagements by participating in all aspects of projects, from the initial proposal preparation, through project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Will work alongside (and under the supervision of) one of the senior team members (15+ years' experience), assisting him and building the valuation model and taking the project to report

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Five years of Business Valuation experience required

  • Experience with Fair Market Value experience, even if not in Family Law

  • Demonstrated initiative in taking ownership of projects

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to multitask

  • Ability to adapt quickly to unexpected changes in priorities

  • Must have superior analytical and research skills

  • Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/ Accounting

Independent Price Verification (IPV) is a key function within Citi and the team is a vital part of the Product Control organization. The goal for the Valuations Control team is to provide an exceptional quality analysis, while at the same time ensuring a robust control framework around the firm's inventory valuations. This role is responsible for all aspects of valuation control of the business, including validation of market data inputs, valuation adjustments, reporting and analysis. Strong technical understanding of derivative products is required. The individual in this role will interact with Senior Management of Front Office, Product Control and Risk Management. Implementation and curation of a strong governance framework and the application of consistent valuation methodologies across the relevant businesses is crucial. Excellent communications and influencing skills are vital. The individual will meet with Front Office, internal/external audit and regulators on a regular basis. The successful candidate needs to demonstrate an ability to communicate complex ideas concisely and effectively. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and leverage a network of business relationships. The Valuation Control team is a cornerstone of the Product Control function. The function is organized into product-aligned teams including a dedicated Price Verification team. The product scope is comprehensive and includes a full range of security and derivative products. The key responsibilities of the group are to perform the independent price verification for Citi's financial inventory, validate valuation adjustments and evaluate the valuation implications of new trade activity. The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role within the North America (NAM) Valuation Control team and support the NAM Valuation Control Head. They will function as a global champion for the relevant desks within Commodities. The global champion is the central point of contact for the global business head(s) and is responsible for communicating the global IPV results as well as leading global projects, ensuring the consistency of approach. There will be regular interaction with a wide variety of other functions within Markets and Banking globally and within the Global Product Control organization. Responsibilities: People Management and Leadership * Strong leadership characteristics that enable the individual to maintain a clear structure of accountability across all aspects of valuation. * Ability to influence regional IPV leads (within the Commodities VCG team) and global internal partners (trading business, risk) as part of the global champion role. * Good communication skills, driving presentations to the global business head(s) and other internal partners, as well as driving and communicating initiatives across the global VCG Commodities team * Excellent project management skills, driving change globally and communicating and tracking projects effectively * Experience manager of managers, developing skills within a team which crosses multiple office locations * Assist in setting team's agenda, direction, goals and objectives for the NAM Commodities Valuation Control Team * Leading and guiding the team in developing techniques in identifying valuation issues * Active role as part of the broader regional and global product control senior management team * Constructively challenge Front Office valuations while building and maintaining these relationships Control Framework * Accountability for the relevant NAM businesses within the Commodities Valuations MCA (Manager Control Assessment) * Accountability for communicating control initiatives globally * Ownership for driving systems and control improvements * Responsibility for reviewing and engaging on all valuation matters relating to the relevant NAM businesses Reporting * Ownership of all valuation reporting for the relevant NAM businesses within the Business, including clear and effective presentation of results * Ensuring consistency of methodologies across the NAM region for the relevant businesses within Commodities as well as contributing to global consistency initiatives * Acting as the senior partner to the Business, Risk, Compliance and Finance in relation to valuation matters Regulatory * Senior point of contact with external audit and regulatory bodies, responsible for all aspects of valuation related reporting and controls Knowledge/Experience: * Extensive years of experience in a valuation, risk or product control related discipline * Strong understanding of current global accounting and regulatory developments pertaining to valuation of financial instruments * Ability to understand complex concepts and effectively challenge peers in Finance, Risk and the Business * Strong communication skills, both written and oral Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience Qualifications: * A Bachelor's or Master's degree in any finance, economics or quantitative related subject.
