General Purpose of Job:
To offer our patients and guests valet parking and facility access services, manage traffic flow and facilitate fee collection for valet services at the main hospital and the Sparrow Professional Building.
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
Project positive customer service demeanor. Receptive to customer complaints, suggestions, and comments and implements them consistent with Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance.
Immediately greet patients and guests utilizing AIDET principals to offer assistance. Offer wheelchairs and/or escort assistance into the building.
Maintain supply and issue wheel chairs and electric mobility scooters to patients and guests upon request.
Assist with traffic control and enforcement, keeping entrances and traffic lanes as clear as possible, especially during emergency situations.
Maintain visual surveillance of entrances and parking lots/ramps, and immediately report suspicious persons/activity to the Security Communications Center.
Track and document validations including the date, time, purpose, and, where applicable, departments authorizing the validation.
Collect parking and valet service fees from patients and visitors as appropriate.
Follow appropriate cash accounting and deposit procedures. Prepare accurate documentation of daily activity. Immediately report significant discrepancies to Leadership or Charge Officer.
Demonstrates extreme care when operating all vehicles. Returns vehicle in same condition in which it was received.
Keeps areas around main entrances, work areas and break rooms clean; Includes sweeping and wiping down furniture and equipment (wheelchairs, scooters, counters, etc.).
Clearly understands and complies with all Parking Attendant service standards
General Requirements Valid unrestricted Michigan drivers license with (2) two points or less within the past 24 months AND can not list any instances of careless or reckless driving OR driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances. Required to immediately report any traffic violations to supervision per HR Policy #607. Work Experience Customer Service experience with handling cash. (Preferred) Previous experience in the parking industry. (Preferred) Education High School diploma or GED equivalent. Specialized Knowledge and Skills Strong customer service orientation. Demonstrated ability to be pleasant and courteous while interacting with others. Accuracy with tickets, cash, and other related documents. Has the ability to count currency and make change. Knowledge of operating various types of vehicles, including standard shift and diesel vehicles. Knowledge of safe driving practices in inclement weather.
