Wyndham is now seeking a Valet Attendant to join our team at the Wyndham Charleston

  • Mills House location in Charleston, South Carolina.

Job Summary

DEPARTMENT: Guest Services

REPORTS TO: Guest Services Manager/Uniformed Services Manager/Transportation Manager

STATUS: Non-exempt

The primary purpose of this position is to serve guests during their stay by making it easier and more enjoyable to arrive, check in and stay at the property. A Valet will assist guests with their car, ensure proper handling of their luggage while maintaining a professional appearance and cordial attitude to both guests as well as staff members. This position will provide assistance to guests in the process of valet, check-in, check-out, room moves and other related service needs as requested. Must possess a valid Drivers License

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.

  • Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.

  • Must have a CDL if driving vehicles larger than 15 passengers.

  • Must not have any moving violations on driving record.

Physical Requirements

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and run through duration of shift

  • Abilitiy to work inside and outside, in all weather conditions

  • Heavy work

  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.

  • Comply with Wyndham Hotel Group Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

  • Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

  • Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.

  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Fundamental Requirements

  • Load and unload carts and vehicles and assist guests with tagging, storing and retrieving of luggage.

  • Drive guests to and from airport and other assigned trips, while ensuring the safety of all passengers.

  • Escort guests to rooms upon request.

  • Open vehicle and hotel doors and greet arriving and departing guests.

  • Deliver messages to meeting rooms.

  • Maintain list of local transportation guides, churches, sport arenas, etc.

  • Provide information, maps, and directions as necessary.

  • Deliver flowers, packages and messages to guestrooms.

  • Assist with room changes.

  • Maintain hotel van: gas, oil, cleanliness - interior and exterior; fill out daily van reports and report any malfunctions to management.

  • Operate radios efficiently and professionally in communicating with hotel staff.

  • Notify security of accidents and complete appropriate documentation.

  • Answer console to assist Guest Services Agents.

  • Show guestrooms and suites as needed and emphasize the hotel's amenities.

  • Assist Bell Staff as needed.

The Valet Attendant will be responsible for valeting cars at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. The pay rate for this position will be $10.00/hour plus tips. This position is responsible for greeting patients and visitors to have their cars valet parked and perform other duties as assigned by Republic Parking supervisors. These positions will be employed directly by Republic Parking System, not MUSC Health, and will be subject to all HR policies, benefits and compensation as defined by Republic Parking System. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM. No Nights and Weekends. Key Responsibilities * Greet customers as they arrive to have their cars valeted * Take customer information to ensure that their car is ready for pickup when they return * Drive and park a variety of different types of cars including sedans, SUVs, trucks, manual and automatic transmissions. * Arrive on time for each shift with minimal absences * Inform supervisor on duty of equipment repair and supply needs as they arise * Resolve conflicts promptly; ask for assistance as needed. * Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company standards. * Follow established procedures to ensure money's security * Maintain a clean location at all times, inside and out. * Stay informed by consistently reading the location log books, as well as adding any situations in the log book from your shift with details. * Adhere to all policies and procedures set by company, client, and location manager. * Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel. Requirements * Must have a valid driver's license * Excellent customer service * Experience driving automatic and manual (stick shift) transmission vehicles is preferred. * Strong attention to detail. * Ability to be outside, walking for long periods of time. * Ability to use a small handheld electronic device with ease. * Accept direction willingly. * Follow through with delegated tasks. * Remain calm under pressure. * Ability to work well with others. * Ability to manage and motivate self. * Good communication and listening skills. * Must be able to pass a background check and have outstanding driving history check. * Must be able to pass a drug screen. * Must be able to provide vaccination records or obtain required vaccinations. * Valet experience is strongly preferred.
