The VA Health Portfolio Manager (PM) is directly accountable to the MITRE VA Mission Portfolio Director for establishing and maintaining trusted relationships with senior sponsors involved in delivery of Veterans Health and Healthcare solutions in various VA organizations, including for example the Veterans Health Administration (VBA), VISNs, and the VA medical centers. This position works closely with other PMs in the VA Mission Portfolio and with the CAMH portfolios to deliver improved coordination and collaboration on the delivery of healthcare to Veterans and to support efforts to enable efficient and effective clinical care.
The PM will be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of the sponsor's organization, environment, mission, and capabilities. Based on this understanding, the PM will develop a business strategy that aligns with sponsor priorities and contributes to an integrated portfolio sponsor engagement strategy with the leadership team. The PM will also partner closely with the CVET Program Division, Technical Centers, and Department Leadership as they shape the workforce, staff and successfully execute the work programs to maximize impact and value. In addition, the PM will collaborate across MITRE to capitalize on high value customer or work program intersections that could be mutually beneficial.
Develop, maintain, and proactively manage sponsor and stakeholder relationships (new & existing)
Assist the government sponsors to better integrate and leverage other agency initiatives
Lead the development of MITRE Veterans Health strategic outcomes, ensuring that strategic outcomes and accomplishments are mission focused and well understood by everyone associated with the portfolio (as an evangelist for these outcomes).
Develop and execute a portfolio business strategy identifying, cultivating and capitalizing on strategic VHA and related healthcare opportunities, to include partnering with other portfolios
Identify and follow-up on new work opportunities; coordinate with adjacent portfolios as appropriate.
Collaborate with other Portfolios, Program Divisions and Tech Centers to identify and capitalize on opportunities to increase our collective value and impact for our sponsors
Ensure that activities, deliverables, and engagements achieve sponsor outcomes, are high-quality, and appropriately exposed to other portfolios
Aggressively look for new and innovative solutions to meet the sponsors' most critical needs taking full advantage of the MITRE Innovation Program, with a focus on national healthcare and improvements in care delivery.
Manage the revenue and delivery of the portfolio and develop a robust pipeline of sponsor work.
Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines, health care related fields, health IT, health Systems Engineering, health information management, or related technical disciplines and 10 years of related experience including 5 years of leadership experience. The candidate will demonstrate an ability to foster relationship development, operate effectively at high levels within MITRE customers and potential customers organizations, recognize and follow through on opportunities in new areas and/or with new MITRE customers. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to and guide others towardthe proper balance of a) product depth with timeliness and b) technical improvements with programmatic constraints, even when hard compromises are required. The candidate is recognized by senior management and external sponsors as a thought leader. Additional qualifications include:

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to shape and deliver results of analyses to a variety of audiences at multiple levels - in writing and in public speaking.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain trusted sponsor and partner relationships. Strong collaboration and team building skills with demonstrated success in a shared leadership model.
Strong understanding of the Political, Operational, Economic and Technical (POET) environment surrounding Veterans' health and healthcare issues.
Strong familiarity with engineering and analytic methods and the complexities, issues and challenges associated with HIT adoption.
Demonstrated experience in providing value to sponsors, their stakeholders, and our employees, as evidenced by results.
Demonstrated ability to lead others through influence.
Demonstrated willingness to lean forward and take risks in order to create, cultivate and seize opportunities with both internal and external partners.
Relevant Veterans' health and healthcare services domain and technical expertise, to include healthcare technologies, hospital operations, healthcare delivery programs, networks, policy, strategy, systems planning, engineering analysis, systems engineering, and future innovative technologies.
Master's Degree or MBA, with direct experience in the health care industry and VHA.
