WHAT YOU WILL DO

onX is seeking a UX Researcher passionate about uncovering user insights through qualitative user research. You will focus on leading, partnering, and consulting with product teams to influence and inform user-centric design and product decisions. You will be a part of our Product Design & UX Research team that will influence eams to make customer-centric decisions across the product development Lifecycle. This includes discovery research to understand customer needs and problems and continuous evaluative research that informs future iterations. This role will utilize a broad range of generative and evaluative user research techniques to develop a deeper understanding of our customers, turning research findings into actionable insights in partnership with product teams and leaders across our organization.at onX and reports to the Sr. Director of Product Design.

As an onX UX Researcher, your essential job duties and responsibilities will look like:

  • Lead user research that enables teams to better understand our users through evaluative, behavioral, competitive and benchmarking studies.

  • Design and execute end-to-end primary research using a wide variety of methods.

  • Lead generative and evaluative research that drives user-centered innovation and improvement of onX user experiences and products.

  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to identify research opportunities, define research goals, develop studies, and deliver findings that directly impact product.

  • Contribute to our UX Research operations and processes, which bolster the value of User Research through rigor, speed, and visibility of the teams' work.

  • Be a human-centered research and design advocate-have an expert opinion, use your voice and share your knowledge and what you are learning from user research widely.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, information science, anthropology, psychology, sociology, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of user experience research or related research experience is required.

  • A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX's Company Values.

  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.

  • This position requires submitting a case study of work samples for consideration.

ADDED BONUSES

Though not required, we would be thrilled to consider candidates with any of the following:

  • Experience with consumer products, consumer insights, or product development

  • Experience with the utilization of mapping, navigation, or geospatial applications and outdoor recreation is a plus

  • Experience with survey design, accessibility, and/or conducting research to inform inclusive consumer-facing products.

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

  • Duration: We anticipate this being a 3 month long fixed term contract

  • Assignment Completion Bonus: Upon the successful completion of your full assignment, this position is eligible for an assignment completion bonus at the end of the contract.

WHERE YOU CAN WORK

onX has created a thriving distributed workforce community across several US locations. This position can be performed from an onX corporate office, "Basecamp," or "Connection Hub".

  • Corporate Offices: onX was founded in Montana with offices in Missoula and Bozeman. If you prefer to work in an office at least part of the time this is a great option.

  • Basecamps: onX's Basecamps are established virtual workforce communities where a sizable number of distributed team members group for work, volunteering, socializing, and adventure.

  • Our current Basecamps are located within a 90-mile radius of the following: Austin, TX; Charlotte, NC; Denver, CO; Kalispell, MT; Minneapolis, MN; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; and Seattle, WA.

  • Connection Hubs: onX's Connection Hub locations are smaller, emerging communities of distributed team members.

  • Our current Connection Hubs are located within a 60-mile radius of the following: Boise, ID; Charleston, SC; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Richmond, VA; Spokane, WA; and Vermont.

HOW YOU'LL BE COMPENSATED

onX is committed to compensating all employees fairly and equitably for their contributions. For this position, we estimate that applicants can expect to make between $28,750 to $33,750 (annualized to be between $115,000 - $135,000 for a full year) during the 3 month duration of the assignment. The pay range will vary based on experience, skills, certifications, and education among other factors as required in the job description.
