FactSet's User Experience Design team is offering an exciting opportunity for a Lead Visual Designer to help shape the next generation UI of our product suite. The best candidate for this role is a skilled and passionate visual designer with experience in desktop, web, and mobile application design. This role will influence the ground-level decisions that will evolve our products to touch and responsive design platforms. The role requires collaboration on cross-functional teams to develop a solid understanding of user needs and contribute visual design expertise to the delivery of high-quality products.


  • Contribute to portions of the visual design strategy for all FactSet products, including desktop, mobile, and web while influencing the development of the overall design system

  • Design pixel perfect high-fidelity mock ups and specifications that represent visual display and work-flow applying expert knowledge of branding, typography, organization, hierarchy, color theory, patterns, and interaction design principles

  • Collaborate on cross-functional project teams which will include any combination of user researchers, designers, product managers, business stakeholders, and engineers

  • Transform ideas, mock ups, and data into high quality, meaningful designs; iterate mock ups based on team feedback to ensure all business, user, and engineering requirements are met

  • Communicate potential issues to the Creative Director and manage smaller design related issues within UX and project teams as they arise

  • Handle multiple large-scale projects and remain flexible through multiple revisions while keeping a keen attention to detail with minimal oversight

  • Oversee projects with small teams of designers; ensure they are working with front-end developers and engineering to create HTML and CSS-friendly designs; continuously elevate their skill-set and promote exploration of industry best practices

  • Remain current on design software and product design trends and communicate them to the larger visual design team as they pertain to our work and processes

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of data visualization and interpret how to translate complex data in a more intuitive manner

  • Gain understanding of financial clients, products and workflows

Required Skills:

  • 8-10 years' experience in a previous design role with a software or agency environment

  • A portfolio of work demonstrating mastery of visual and interaction design principles, specifically related to application design

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field preferably from a School of Art and Design

  • A deep understanding in user centered design methodology, UX principles and product development roles and processes

  • Multi-platform responsive and adaptive design experience

  • Data visualization skills (think "charting", not "infographics")

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills

  • Capable of handling complex projects from inception to completion with minimal oversight

  • Strong idea-generation and brainstorming skills; ability to distill information and problem-solve effectively

  • Previous experience overseeing, managing, and mentoring a small team of designers

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills

  • Ability to present design vision in document and spoken forms, influence stakeholders and leadership, and successfully defend your design choices

  • Proficiency in Figma (preferred) or Sketch, Photoshop, and Illustrator

  • Demonstrated fluency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, iOS and Android platforms

  • Experience in the financial industry or corporate is a strong plus

The Manager Visual Equity & Design position is a creative leadership role, with specific focus on bringing the strategic vision for brand design to market while providing comprehensive business & project leadership. A qualified Manager Visual Equity & Design candidate is an experienced, proactive, business savvy, strategically-minded design leader with a passion for brand development, design excellence, consumer insights and problem solving. The ideal candidate will provide vision, guidance and consistent leadership to create business building creative solutions for a segment of the Campbell Snacks portfolio across key brands. Primary Responsibilities Design & creative leadership: * Effectively brings-to-life portfolio design strategies, collaborating & guiding external creative partners in the successful execution of work. * Persuasively presents & recommends specific design and photographic solutions; effectively articulating creative ideas and formulating strong consumer & brand-centric rationale to support direction. * Proactively leads the design development process (including sandboxing, planning, design, photography, production & printing) customizing project activities to maximize resources and best meet specific business needs. * Actively engages in research as a tool to deliver more effective design and utilizes insights to fuel creative development - working with internal research partners to define & develop research methodologies as a part of the design process; as well as turning consumer insights into actionable creative direction. Strategic business development partnership: * Sits on the leadership teams of the brands and business he/she supports and proactively participates in business planning. * Leads the development of all package design creative briefs, effectively translating business needs/challenges into clear, focused objectives that design must address. * Proactively shares best practices, design thinking and insights with Marketing partners; highlighting opportunities and risks & proposes new ideas that drive business success. * Oversees the development and maintenance of detailed style guides for assigned brands with the Graphic Project Supervisor and collaborates with key partners to ensure equity compliance and comprehensive management of brand design assets. * Actively follows design & marketplace trends and uses in-market experiences to develop creative strategies and solutions; anticipating competitive activities based on a deep and ongoing understanding of direct and indirect competitive categories. Project & resource management: * Works seamlessly with the Graphic Project Supervisor to effectively manage timelines/schedules and project details while maintaining strict budgetary controls for the total business and all financial details within assigned projects. * Actively collaborates with internal and external resources to gain competitive advantage and ensure the efficiency of the design process. Direct report supervision & development: * Motivates, mentors, trains and develops Graphic Project Supervisor. Job Complexity * The Manager, Visual Equity & Design is called upon to spearhead meetings with senior leaders and other departments, to make strategic recommendations and clarify and define business objectives. Often times creative briefs and initial requirements presented are ambiguous, timelines are compressed and potentially undeliverable. The Manager, Visual Equity & Design must not only refine and clarify requirements, but lead strategic alignment among all internal and external parties. To be effective in this capacity the Manager, Visual Equity & Design must excel in creative, business, technical, interpersonal, and production skills, and at times, conflict-resolution skills. * Within the design process the Manager, Visual Equity & Design will need to review creative work with a critical eye both in terms of its aesthetic value, but also in terms of how it addresses the key brand communication challenges/opportunities. At times deliverables may not appropriately meet the brief and Campbell Snacks quality standards. The Manager, Visual Equity & Design must be able to effectively judge this and clearly direct, problem-solve & inspire external creative partners to improve the quality of the work to ensure it not only meets, but surpasses expectations. Requirements * 8-10 years+ package design experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG).
