Position: UX Designer
Onsite Location:
Somerset, New Jersey or Columbus, OH
Duration: Long Term Contract
Our UX Designers you will closely collaborate with user experience designers, product managers, agile teams, and customers to deliver a compelling user experience through an important new product redesign.
The primary focus of this position is taking workflows and wireframes and creating high fidelity clickable prototypes.
Use your excellent design skills and creativity to make a lasting impact on our product, organization, and users.
Create whatever is needed to communicate, taking lo-fi whiteboard sketches to high-fidelity mockups and clickable prototypes.
Unify business goals with UX best practices and realistic web-app development expectations for validating with customers and collaborating with development teams.
Mature our Design System by identifying and reusing design patterns.
Required Skills
2+ years total industry experience (corporate, software, web, and/or agency experience)
Expertise in Sketch, Invision, and/or similar tools
Visual Design & Product Design experience
Portfolio and/or case studies showing your UI designs for web applications
Proven talent of creating intuitive designs with usability best practices and visual design principles
Desired Skills
Experience participating in the development lifecycle of a launched mobile, web application, especially B2B enterprise software
Experience participating in user research including interviews, usability testing, surveys, etc. to inform design and requirements
collaboration in a product development setting: 1 year (Required)
Sketch, Photoshop: 1 year (Required)
working within an agile team: 1 year (Required)
Invision: 1 year (Optional)

In this role, the Senior Industrial Designer will work in collaboration with our design teams and key strategic business leaders to effectively lead, drive, manage, and, most importantly, evangelize Design Innovation for the enterprise.Along side the design team and business leads, the Senior Industrial Designer will identify, scope and manage the right projects according to the top business needs and also provide thought leadership on enterprise opportunities that might be overlooked. Specifically, the Senior Industrial Designer is responsible for the creation of product design of personal care primary packaging and, accessories associated with this business, for the hospitality and retail industries from concept ideation through the establishment of product standards for production. Responsibilities * End-to-end product development from research and early concept exploration, to product execution and launch. Active participant and driving force in complete product development cycle.• Independently leading complete design projects of high complexity.• Capable of creating production-ready 3D CAD databases for hand off to engineering and model makers• Actively demonstrate design & innovation thought leadership to adjacent teams.• Work with outside suppliers to enable design success and address technical issues in the development process.• Leads brainstorming sessions with other senior technical staff, product management, design, and marketing team members.• Inspires peers with creative approach to thinking and problem solving• Design and engineer primary packaging including but not limited to bottles, soaps & accessory packages; and room accessory items such as ice bucket, waste basket, tissue box cover, tray and soap dish, and room tray, etc. • Evaluate design ideas based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and client specifications.• Support all tactical activities in product development including: Conceptualization and creation of drawings and 3D product designs; Pre-Engineering - create industrial design control drawings and specifications; Establishment of production quality standards; and Source and oversee international manufacturing facilities during design approval phase prior to mass production. Collaborate with Corporate Accounts, Engineering, Sales, Procurement and Manufacturing departments throughout the process. Troubleshoot any related challenges or problems. • Liaison with overseas vendors for product development from the drawings to product specifications, first off tool samples, and sample review and approval. Negotiate initial cost and setup production and delivery schedules. • Work with Quality Compliance Department of third party QC companies regarding compliance issues. * Support and provide technical and design solutions for the Sales and Marketing teams. • Analyze and deliver opportunities for new design trend, material, and innovation of product development elements such as quality control, production methods, material selection, etc. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION, INCLUDING DEGREES & CERTIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE (YEARS & TYPE OF EXPERIENCE): • 10-15 years of industrial design experience in Personal Care and Cosmetic industry. • 2D Design: Advance level experience using latest version of Adobe CC (Illustrator, InDesign, PhotoShop) • 2D CAD skills: professional level experience using Ashlar Graphite and Autocad • 3D CAD skills: professional level experience using SolidWorks and Ashlar Covalt.• Previously worked in creative corporate and consultant environments. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from suppliers, customers, management and inter-department staff.
