Position Summary:

The UX Designer demonstrates strong interests and capabilities in the design and development of engaging user experiences. They will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. This role will have extensive experience in a fast-paced and innovative development environment. A thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies is a must. The UX Designer will be responsible for driving the successful delivery of user experience design for Spok's platform of critical communication solutions including mobile and web-based products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Collaborating on user experience planning with development, architects, and product management.

  • Ability to collaborate with other designers, developers and the product team to create amazing experiences

  • Consults with clients to understand and quantify user needs through site visits and inquiry.

  • Envision and craft innovative web experiences

  • Demonstrate web expertise and best practices to the broader UX, technology and product teams.

  • Develop concepts from idea to final design by leveraging a broad designer toolkit, from sketches, storyboards, user scenarios, personas, wireframes to design prototypes, and detailed wireframe specs.

  • Quickly and effectively communicate your design ideas and rationale

  • Present and build confidence around design artifacts such as user research findings, high-level conceptual design ideas, and detailed design specifications.

  • Perform task analysis and user interface design.

  • Work iteratively with development to gather and document user experience requirements.

  • Support a number of development activities concurrently.

  • Use a high degree of creativity, interaction design, and problem solving abilities.

  • Design compelling and intuitive user interfaces.

  • Partner and communicate with Software Engineers.

  • Use prototyping tools such as Sketch, Invision and Zeplin.

  • Perform Heuristic evaluation when designing products

  • Work independently to develop interaction design definition, direction and execution

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 2 years'; or comparable experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. BA/MA in a Design related field such as Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Visual Communication is preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience designing UX for enterprise web and mobile applications (Must bring portfolio)

  • Understanding of current design methodologies (Human Interface Guidelines, Material Design, Atomic Design and Human-centered Design Approach)

  • High proficiency in design and rapid prototyping using tools such as: Sketch, Invision, Zeplin, Axure, and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to a wide range of audiences.

  • Understanding of front end technologies such as CSS/SASS, HTML and Bootstrap 4, jQuery

  • Experience working on an Agile development team

  • Experience working in a Healthcare/clinical environment

  • Ability to identify, own, and solve problems independently or as part of a team

VIEW JOBS 5/14/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-08-12T00:00 The Senior User Experience Design Researcher will be primarily responsible for collaboratively formulating a research strategy and program of research activities and then carrying out and supervising research in conjunction with UX designers on a platform that supports corporate marketing sites including our flagship website. You will conduct a range of formative and iterative research methods impacting both product direction and detailed digital design. You will work in a highly collaborative environment with business teams and engineers to design end-to-end experiences that are useful, usable, and desirable. Your work will happen in the context of an agile development environment supporting designers during both the "design runway" (sometimes called sprint 0) and during the release cadence of continuous delivery implementations. Primary Job Responsibilities: * Develop strong relationships with business partners, product managers, and designers and develop a deep understanding of what kinds of challenges the team is facing and the near-term and long-term vision for the product. * Develop a deep understanding of the customers and end users, including needs and pain points and how they interact with the product. Work with designers to ensure the entire team is educated about customers and end users as part of an on-going dialogue. * Partner with team to formulate a research strategy and program that aligns to the product roadmap/time horizon most appropriate for the circumstances. * Design and conduct a range of formative and iterative research methods applicable to all product stages from conception to release, including but not limited to ideation sessions, moderated and unmoderated usability tests, interviews, surveys, and field research with a particular emphasis on "lean" methods such as RITE (rapid iterative testing and evaluation). * Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and business partners during all steps of research * Triangulate multiple data sources into integrated insights and translate research findings into actionable recommendations and deliver them in compelling ways * Communicate and evangelize research results to engineering and business teams * Must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects but also clearly articulate what can and cannot be realistically accomplished in a given time frame. Required Qualifications: * A degree in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, behavioral science, or related field or equivalent experience * A minimum of 2 years of industry experience in user research; 3-5 years preferred * Experience with a range of UX research approaches and methodologies including developing user personas/customer journey maps, conducting field studies / contextual inquiry, and usability testing (moderated, in person and remote, and unmoderated) Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with tools such as UserZoom, UserTesting.com, Optimal Workshop and other industry standard tools preferred * Agile experience preferred * Healthcare Industry experience a plus * Experience with wireframing/rapid prototyping tools like Axure a plus Success Factors: * Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization * Strong relationship building skills and an ability to empathize with clients, co-workers, and users * Excellent project management skills, including the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently * Ability to work in dynamic, often ambiguous conditions requiring rapid transitions * Ability to get up to speed with new material and tools quickly Technology Careers with Optum.
