Data user experience is a new UX competency which is the conveyance of big data and information in forms that can be seen. We study and create the new visual representation of data and user experience around it. The competency is the beautiful mix of art and technology & science

  • Are you a seasoned Design Technologist who is looking for a new challenge? The data UX is filled with undiscovered UX challenges - you could be the first technologist to solve these unique design problems.

As a Design Technologist, You will be working with engineers and designers, product managers to tackle building high-fidelity prototypes, creating design tools that are tightly integrated into the designer's creative process, and co-create data visualization tools with our data UX designers. You must be comfortable with frontend programming and Web Mobile GL.

  • What Youll Do*

  • Concept development and design ideation as a part of Splunk design org

  • Ability to rapidly build and iterate on polished, high-fidelity prototypes that express design intent, using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for the task.

  • Develop functional prototypes prove and sell concepts to development teams and senior leadership

  • Partner with designers to discover, define and deliver tools and systems optimize the design workflow

  • Create design tools that enhance the functionality of Sketch and Figma, and create "code-to-design" environment

  • Create design tools to standardize the Splunk design system and evangelize the single source of truth

  • What Youll Bring*

  • 8+ years of experience

  • A deep understanding of the design system

  • A proficiency with front-end programming (web, desktop, mobile, native)

  • A pixel pusher who thrives on achieving obsessively meticulous crafts

  • Expertise in data visualization and exploration of Big Data

  • Working knowledge of Swift (or similar) and ability to create interactive prototypes with functional components

  • Experience working against real APIs and common data formats to help facilitate realistic scenario user tests.

  • Good understanding of various platforms and technologies (HTML5 CSS3 Javascript, Java, Python, C++, and others) to create functional tools, prototypes, and proofs-of-concept.

  • Excellent communication

  • Both written and verbal
  • Not afraid of ambiguity and willing to learn new skills

  • Experience in a fast-paced, iterative development environment, experience with Agile a strong plus.

Portfolio Requirements

Your portfolio needs to include both 'what you have done", which is the typical collection of your work that you have participated, then there should be "what you can do now." part - including samples of tools you created and let us see how you design. We are most interested in learning about your creativity.

UX Design Technologists combine UX Design and engineering expertise into a single discipline, and are able to develop, prototype, and test innovative solutions that open up the boundaries on front-end engineering. He or She has advanced knowledge of one or more digital delivery mediums but also a strong basis in UX and visual. He or she will also have a background in data science and have hands on experience with a mix of technologies and development platforms.
