Full Pay Range: $21.60 to $32.40

Position Summary:
The City of Prescott Department of Public Works is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and collaborative professional for the City's Wastewater Treatment Division, in the position of Utility Worker. Under general supervision of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor and/or senior staff, the Utility Worker supports assignments in the City's Wastewater Treatment Facilities. The successful candidate will possess excellent physical and technical skills to support team goals and objectives.
Essential Duties:
- Primary duties incorporate teamwork to support the operation and maintenance of wastewater facilities by performing buildings and grounds maintenance, e.g. mowing & trimming, painting, landscaping and custodial work
- Assisting staff with plant operations; including sample collection, reading instruments, and hosing & cleaning tanks
- Assisting maintenance specialists and performing preventive maintenance on plant equipment such as greasing and changing oil
- Assisting the effluent delivery operator and fulfilling those duties when needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. The ideal candidate will possess wastewater experience or a minimum of one (1) year related experience either in construction or construction maintenance, facilities operation & maintenance, buildings and grounds maintenance and mechanical equipment operation & maintenance. A valid Arizona Class D Driver's License is required at time of hire.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Wastewater Treatment Plant operations
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safe working practices
- Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, janitorial and mechanical maintenance
- Knowledge of hand and power tools, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, tractors, vehicles, generators, and other mechanical equipment

Physical Demands And Working Conditions:
- Sufficient to effectively perform required duties and to safely operate required equipment and city vehicles as needed
- Must be able to see clearly, with correction if necessary, during both day and night, and in potentially adverse weather conditions
- Must possess ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time and capable of lifting 60 pounds frequently with a maximum of 100 pounds
