PURPOSE:

Performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and assist in receiving, storing, and distributing Public Works' equipment and supplies, and performs other work as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

This is an entry-level classification in the Maintenance series where incumbents perform a wide variety of maintenance and repair duties.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Receives general supervision from the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions

FACILITIES

Performworkassociatedwithmaintaining,cleaning,upkeepandrepairofcityfacilities,groundsandproperty,including painting,stockingjanitorialsupplies,groundsmaintenance,cleaning,minorHVACrepairsandmaintenance,repairingand refinishing benches, wood working, moving furniture, setting up cubicles and furniture, replacing light bulbs, set up for events,basicplumbing,snowremovalandde-icing,cleaningguttersandroofs.

Checkfuelislandtanklevelweeklyandatendofmonth;reporttopurchasingwhenfuelneedstobeordered.

Repair doors and locks, clean glass on entry doors; remove trash and perform minor cleaning and maintenance of parking structure.

Emptyrecyclebinsandtrashcans;cleanuparoundtrashandrecycleareas.

Operate power tools such as drills, table saw, air compressor, circular saw, saws all, rotary hammer drill, nail guns, leaf blower, weed eater, lawn mower, pressure washer and a wide variety of hand tools.

Use and properly care for a variety of specialized hand tools, vehicles, and equipment; deliver parts, materials, tools, and equipment; perform basic repairs as needed.

Maintain logs, records, and files in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations and City policies and procedures; provide accurate and legible data input for timesheets, and other related documents.

Performs as a member of the team; acts ethically and responsibly; demonstrates professionalism and respect in all workplace interactions.

Arrives to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintains regular job attendance.

Provide technical assistance and participate in the training of staff; assist in the implementation of department/division goals and objectives; participate in safety training programs and other related functions.

AUXILIARYJOBFUNCTIONS:

Maintain proficiency by attending training conferences and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility.

Perform other work as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Possession of a high school diploma or GED.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.

Substitution: Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the job proficiently may substitute for the above requirements.

DesirableQualifications: Completion of basic first aid and CPR training is desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Certificates: Must obtain basic first aid, CPR, and Competent Person certifications within six (6) months of appointment.

License: The ability to obtain and retain an Oregon driver's license by the time of appointment may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledgeof:

Methods, means and materials used to perform work in the assigned position. Use and basic maintenance of light and heavy vehicles.

The operation and maintenance of a variety of hand and power tools and power equipment.

Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

Basic office administration and equipment, including computers and calculators.

Ability to:

Followwrittenandoralinstructions.

ImplementCityanddepartmentpolicies,procedures,rules,andregulations.

Perform a wide range of construction and maintenance activities, using standard methods and equipment.

Organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.

Enterdataandretrieveinformationfromvariouscomputersystemsfornecessaryduties.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
