The Utility Sweeper is responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of the insides of trailers, empties trash containers throws away all boxes, packaging and debris accumulated in the trailers and surrounding trailer yard, sweeps out all trailers and operates the sweeper when required, acts as a member of the spill clean-up team, and performs a variety of other tasks and duties as assigned
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Cleans and sweeps all tractors and trailers, floors, walls, overhead equipment, stair wells and ceilings in all production areas.
Maintains the facilities roof cleanliness and associated equipment as assigned by supervisor.
Cleans Production system/s as well as associated equipment as assigned by supervisor.
Changes dust collector socks/cartridges and properly disposes used materials, if applicable
Follows required schedule and utilizes sheets to properly document sanitation records (if applicable)
Cleans up spilled product throughout facility, removes visible foreign material (if applicable). Attends all required facility and department meetings/training.
Follows all safety and food safety policies, procedures and SOP's.
Demonstrates clear and effective communication skills with all plant personnel via radio, face to face and written communication.
It is an expectation that employees will demonstrate equipment/area ownership through the use of Continuous Improvement (CI) tools.
Reports all known non-conformances regarding safety, Food Safety, quality and productivity immediately.
Performs minor maintenance and PM's to fix or prevent product/equipment leaks.
Receives materials and uses pallet jack to stage, store or remove materials, additives etc. throughout required areas.
Follows the required tool color codes/guidelines related to the cleaning and handling of all in-process, waste and feed materials.
Responsible for the maintaining, storage and return of all cleaning/sanitation tools, carts, hoses etc. when not in use.
Reports all pest, rodent and bird activity to supervisor immediately.
Responsible for checking in with supervisor on shift to report progress on assignments throughout scheduled shift.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be able to read/write English.
High School education or equivalent.
Ability to work overtime, holidays, nights, weekends and rotating shifts.
Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, shoveling, and work in confined spaces.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold.
Ability to work in elevated areas.
Experience sufficient to learn and properly perform the duties of the job in a safe manner.
Must have ability to work in a fast paced, team environment.
Must have good attention to detail.
Must have the ability and be willing to learn to operate sweeper, small hand tools, pallet handlers, and operate hand trucks material handling equipment in an efficient and safe manner.
Ability to learn new functions, processes and methodologies.
Must successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen
