Provides technical assistance to the Chief Utility Relocation Manager and the Utility Designer. Assists with the collection of data for plotting franchise utility locations (approximate) in the area of proposed construction.

Collection includes (upload/download) plans from the franchise utility companies using such platforms as Dropbox, U-Serve, etc. Assists with CAD drawings - identifying and highlighting survey topo shots of above the ground shots on valve covers, poles, etc. Includes the ability to single out existing utility lines by changing line weights and color for each utility in the area of proposed construction.

Field visits to verify locations of poles, guy wires, utility panels, etc. in relation to known features such as back of curb. Information obtained to be used in identifying potential conflicts of roadway elements (existing and proposed storm drains, water and wastewater lines, etc.) Assists with notifying utility companies of upcoming projects. Works with the Project Engineer in distributing plans to the franchise utility companies at 60% and 90% plan completions.

Assists with notifying the utility companies of Monthly Utility meetings with Public Works and Quarterly Partnering meetings with each franchise utility company. Assembles and maintains map of areas of responsibility for each franchise and keep contacts current with each utility company. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related Engineering field of study. Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.

Must possess knowledge of electronic based surveying work design tools and software used in the preparation of plans and specifications. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with a good driving record. Standard office environment.

Ability to travel to various work site locations. An extensive pre-employment background investigation will be conducted on all applicants who have been offered a position with Dallas County. The hiring process involves successful completion of each step.
