Utility Technician I

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Requirements of customers, contractor, regulators, and internal departments are met by completing locates accurately and within time requirements.

• Electronic equipment used is maintained in good working order through periodic inspection and calibration.

• Periodic testing conducted to evaluate odorant levels in gas distribution system. .

• Inspection of fire hydrants during winter months.

• Customers and regulators have a positive image of the Company through courteous, accurate, and timely completion of duties.

• Self, co-workers, and others work in a safe environment through compliance with safety rules and use of safe work practices.

EDUCATION:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of one year of underground water, gas, communications, and/or electric utility locating experience required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must obtain and maintain appropriate qualifications under OPS (Office of Pipeline Safety) Operator Qualification Rules within six months of hire.

• This position is subject to DOT PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Act) regulations.

• Must have a basic knowledge of underground utilities.

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills required to develop and maintain positive working relationships.

• This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

• Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

• This position is subject to a residency requirement of 40 minutes driving time of the reporting site.
