JOB SUMMARY:

Performs plumbing and mechanical maintenance related duties requiring the professional skills of a journeyman plumber. Installs and maintains utility piping, plumbing system components, high- and low pressure steam traps, regulators, pumps and valves. Complies with the requirements of the International Plumbing Code and OSHA safety requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

Operates and maintains tools and heavy equipment associated with the plumbing trade.

  • Installation:

Maintains and installs steam, water, sewer, chilled water, fire protection, back-flow prevention, compressed air, and vacuum systems, water meters, electrical ductbanks, and gas and oil fired boilers. Maintains and installs high-and low-pressure steam traps, regulators, pumps and valves.

  • Plumbing Maintenance, Installation, and Troubleshooting:

Unstops blockages in all types of plumbing fixtures and building drains connecting to the main sewage system. Maintains and installs plumbing fixtures, supply fixtures, traps and other related equipment according to the International Plumbing Code.

  • Calibration and Reading Steam Meters and Blueprints:

Calibrates and reads steam and water meters. Advises manager on performance of subordinate personnel. Reads, understands and applies blueprints to jobs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and formal training or trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.

Licenses

  • Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000

Work Experience: 1+ years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Licenses

  • Driver's License Class A or B CDL

Clemson University is willing to cover the cost for candidate to attend classes for CDL with the understanding that if the candidate should choose to leave within 1 year of receiving their CDL, they will be required to reimburse Clemson University all costs, fees, etc.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range: ($ 42,813.00 - $ 47,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
