Overview
Job Title: Utility Manager - Civil Construction
Job Summary: Plan, coordinate, and manage utility relocations on large complex projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Visualize, fulfill, and implement the vision and core values.
Manage project engineering and related personnel functions and activities that include personnel planning and administration, work assignments, wage increases/promotions, disciplinary actions, etc.
Insure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule.
Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.
Provide technical support for utility relocation effort including participation in construction planning and design; interpretation of design; application of construction methods; resolution and documentation of design conflicts; constructability reviews, etc.
Manage multiple utility owner schedules and integrate with overall project schedule
Plan and coordinate utility relocations in conjunction with other road work activities
Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with utility owners as the primary point of contact ensuring that the company fulfills its obligation under the contract
Understand utility owner specifications and analyze information and evaluate results to choose best solution to resolve project issues
Education and/or Experience:
4 year engineering/construction management degree or equivalent technical training and related experience.
At least 3 years of experience managing public and private utility relocations
Heavy Highway and Design-Build project experience is preferred
Individual Development (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc., plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills plus demonstrated ability to manage relationships with multiple owners.
Excellent organizational skills
Advanced knowledge of water, sewer, power, gas, and communication facilities construction and relocation requirements
Ability to recognize and resolve problems that arise due to utility conflicts, schedule conflicts, and other work disciplines
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
