The Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development, Division of Regulatory Commission of Alaska is recruiting for a Utility Financial Analyst 3 position located in Anchorage!
What you will be doing:
The Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA) is recruiting for a Utility Financial Analyst 3 position in Anchorage. The Utility Financial Analyst 3 is an advanced level position and reviews complex or controversial revenue requirment studies (rate cases) and verbally defends recommendations to a panel of Commissioners. In addition, this position prepares written reports and analysis including recommendations for specific revenue levels, rate designs, rates, and cost allocation. This position may also work independently and/or collaborate with tariff and engineering staff in conjunction with formal docket proceedings.

The RCA regulates public utilities (electric, water, sewer, refuse, and natural gas), pipeline carriers, and to a limited extent, telecommunications providers to ensure they provide safe and adequate services and facilities at just and reasonable rates, terms, and conditions. The Finance Section reviews filings where regulated utilities and pipeline carriers seek to revise their rates, assist in financial fitness review, and act as the staff docket manager on docket filings such as rate cases suspended for further investigation, regulatory assets, and dockets that are financial in nature. In addition, the Finance Section may be involved in rule-making proceedings, provide information in response to legislative inquiries, and present in public meetings.

The working conditions you can expect:
The RCA is located in the heart of downtown Anchorage. The daily work environment can be busy at times with different deadlines to meet with a variety of work assignments. During downtime the team works to identify area's of improvement and implements changes to increase efficiencies.

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional level experience in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field/industry.
