Bennington College invites applications for a team-oriented Utility Cleaner/Mover to support the needs of a diverse campus community. As part of the Buildings & Grounds team, the Utility Cleaner/Mover is responsible for moving/delivering items to designated campus locations in a timely and safe manner, managing set-ups for College events (i.e., arranging/setting up tables, chairs, podium) and cleaning assigned facilities. Generally, the position works as part of a 2-person team to address work orders and ad hoc requests throughout the day.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six months' related experience; moving experience is preferred. Candidates must have exceptional customer service and communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision - both independently and as part of a team.
Candidates must be able to prioritize work orders, multitask and successfully complete/close out assignments in a timely manner; flexibility is a must. A current/valid driver's license and successful completion of a driving test is required.
This position works both inside and outdoors with the potential for extreme weather conditions. This position requires the ability to lift and carry at least 100 lbs.
This position requires frequent heavy physical exertion; typically involves lifting, standing, bending, reaching, stooping, walking, pushing, pulling and climbing stairs, step ladders and extension ladders to coordinate work. The position requires use of a forklift, vacuum, buffer, floor machine among other equipment; attendance/completion of safety training programs required. The position may require some overtime as well as weekend or holiday coverage.
The position is full-time, benefits-eligible and the work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6;30 am to 3:00 pm. Bennington College offers a comprehensive benefits program that includes generous time off benefits.
