Position Function:

Under the general direction of the Utility Billing Supervisor, performs duties necessary to support the Utility Billing division by conducting "front desk" operations (e.g. account transactions, fee, and tax collections, etc.). Duties include but are not limited to, new services set-up, account transactions and fee calculations, and daily deposit preparation and reporting.

Essential Duties:

  • Performs duties necessary to support the Utility Billing division by conducting "front desk" operations (e.g. account transactions, fee, and tax collections, etc.). Duties include but are not limited to, new services set-up, account transactions and fee calculations, and daily deposit preparation and reporting. Responsible for cash drawer accounting.

  • Assist with customer service and dispute resolution. Duties include but are not limited to, dispatching field personnel, complaint resolution, billing adjustments, preparation of notices, and delinquency reports.

  • Provides staff assistance to the Utility Billing Supervisor by conducting research, preparing reports related to account transactions, and delinquencies, and typing and/or mailing final notices and payment schedules.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Environment:

Duties are primarily performed within an office environment or setting. Possible exposure to dust and mold.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Required knowledge and experience are normally obtained through the completion of a curriculum resulting in either a High School Diploma or GED, and at least two (2) to three (3) years of work-related experience are required.

  • Work requires the ability to read and write letters, memos, spreadsheets, and other job-related analyses.

  • Must possess excellent oral communication skills.

  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations and/or analysis.

  • Must be able to research, compile and analyze data in an acceptable format.

  • Should be competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.

  • Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and pressure in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other government representatives, contractors, partners, consultants, vendors, the media, and the general public is essential.

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess a Valid Florida Class E driver's license.

  • Must pass applicable pre-employment testing and background and credit checks.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
