Perform a variety of functions to support the manufacturing and assembly of products. Certain functions will require a HiLo license.
Use a variety of tools and equipment.
A wide variety of materials, parts and components used.
WORKING PROCEDURE: The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties by the incumbent, nor the question being raised on the proper rate of pay for the assignment.
Work from travelers, established work procedures, and written and/or verbal instructions from the departmental Supervisor.
Obtain and hang racks from staging area identifying proper size and pattern required for paint.
Maintain required records of production as established by department work procedures.
Requisition and inspect necessary components, parts, packaging material skids, etc., as needed to maintain desired inventory levels in the department.
Update production "clean-up" lists; coordinate and expedite remake or rework effort required to complete jobs.
Place cartons and/or components on skids and wrap skids as prescribed. Use hand truck or hi-lo to move skidded material to designated area for pickup.
Make up identifying labels, using the On-Line Shipping system or manual method, and label cartons. Attach handling instructions labels. Make up packing slips and maintain records of product packed. Label skidded material and insure that necessary identifying labels have been attached.
Audit the quality of the product against quality standards as it is processed through the department. Notify supervisor of equipment failure or malfunction, shortages, or defective material and expedite rework where possible. Follow ISO 9001 guidelines and procedures at all times.
Measure special pallet sizes and/or cartons for miscellaneous items and requisition or make the necessary skids and packing materials.
Observe for and lay aside defective panels. Obtain replacement panels and return rejected panels for rework.
Set up equipment and machines and operate, as necessary, to perform manufacturing operations.
Burn and wash paint hooks to ensure proper paint coverage.
Check welds on all hooks for cracks to ensure safety in the department. Weld hooks that need repair.
Sand rework parts and take to Handcoat.
Obtain new batch powder from dock and deliver to Handcoat for panel preparation.
Obtain new aerosol paint from dock and deliver to Utility for test panel preparation.
Perform necessary repairs.
Process D.A. material as required.
Keep equipment and work area in clean and orderly condition.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment including cleaning.
Follow all safety policies and practices, and wear protective equipment as required.
Collect painted panels and verify color match to the master as follows:
Visually compare sprayed test panels to master on file
Compare sprayed panels to master using spectrometer (computer database system)
Check thickness and gloss level
Update records as required
Submit findings and test panels for final accept/reject by QA or Engineering
Performs all 5S housekeeping tasks in appropriate areas. Works to ensure work area is maintained in a clean, orderly and safe condition at all times. Completes all regularly scheduled 5S checks. Immediately alerts team member and team coordinators of all unsafe work conditions.
Participates as a member of the department team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies. Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the department team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas of lack of cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the Supervisor and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues effecting cohesiveness. Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical Experience: Will be required to cross train on critical departmental positions for coverage purposes; Must be able to work in a team environment and be part of the rotation of positions;
Industry Experience: Experience in a manufacturing environment required. Working knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, principles, and tools preferred.
