Summary

This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Utilities System Repair Operator you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the heating and cooling equipment for multiple building complexes; 14 buildings with pneumatic panels and controls for heating and cooling.

Responsibilities

As a Utilities System Repair Operator WG-4742-9, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Operates and maintains healing and cooling equipment for multiple building complexes

  • Operation and maintenance of the following types of equipment, mechanical compression type cooling units, two ton window air conditioning units, air heating and ventilating units, hot water heaters and storage tanks.

  • Monitors water supply and return temperature, outside temperature, relative humidity and cooling towers.

  • Maintenance and service belts and/or changing filters, lubrication, installs worn and broken parts.

  • Makes repairs on a variety of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units.

  • Maintains proper steam pressure and temperature by adjusting controls and regulating steam boiler, water pumps.

  • Inspects and performs preventive maintenance to boilers and equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Utility Systems Repair Operator, WG-4742-09

Experience: There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualification (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Utility Systems Repairer Operator involves operation and maintenance of heating and cooling systems and boilers; checking steam pressures, hot and chilled water supply and return temperatures, heating and cooling air supply and return temperatures; making repairs to burners, fans, pumps and other related equipment and restarting heating and cooling equipment that has been automatically shut down without more than normal supervision. Failure to meet this Screen-out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

VIEW JOBS 4/1/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-30T00:00 Job Description 50% - Follows an established inspection routine in an assigned group of buildings to needed maintenance and repairs to various mechanical/electrical, plumbing and building structural equipment such as charging air conditioning units, performs lubrication, cleaning inspection, changes belts and filters in equipment making necessary adjustment to units, electrical troubleshooting. Repairs and replaces drinking fountains, plumbing fixtures, faucets, valves and traps. Diagnoses leaks, stoppages, inadequate supply or faulty operation of water, sewer, steam, gas and air systems, cleans and repairs defective components. Remounts mirrors, lavatories, towel dispensers and other restroom fixtures. Performs repairs on heating ventilating and air conditioning units, electric motors, gear reducer, air compressors, various electrical and pneumatic control components, etc. 40% - Responds to emergency calls involving loss of utilities or equipment failure. Resets breakers, helps repair leaks in water or air lines. Repairs are performed as time and expertise permits. May assist Central Shop staff with more complex repairs. 5% - Maintains an adequate supply of tools, parts, and supplies for jobs. Responds to after-hours emergency calls as needed. Assists with other maintenance areas and in other work areas as assigned. Assists with snow removal and surface treatment. 5% - Performs other related work as assigned. Required Qualifications * High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency. * Two (2) years of experience in a skilled craft area. Certificate from a vocational school or an associate's degree in a building or mechanical trade area may be substituted for one year of the required experience. * Must have a valid driver's license by the time of hire and maintain the license throughout employment. Position Requirements: * Carry up to 20 pounds constantly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with or without accommodation. * Work under a variety of extremes of temperature and weather, both inside and outdoors. * Work overtime as needed. * Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed. * Report to work during declared periods of inclement weather if required. * Work from high scaffolds and ladders, confined spaces. * Must enter work order information digitally.
