Utilities Maintenance Technician- 2Nd Shift

Responsibilities:

• Understand and follow all safety procedures.

• Operate and maintain all facility utility systems including steam, condensate, compressed air and cooling water equipment.

• Operate facility steam boilers and perform routine testing and inspections including but not limited to water sampling, boiler blow downs, etc.…

• Operate facility air compressors and associated equipment to supply dry, oil free air to the facility.

• Perform breakdown and routine maintenance on utility system equipment such as boilers, air compressors, air dryers, condensate pumps, feed water pumps, chillers etc.…

• Have general knowledge of boiler room/facilities equipment such as boilers, pumps, de-aerator, control room, air compressors, chiller, dryers, pneumatic controls, valves & HVAC.

• Monitor water treatment plant operations daily.

• Monitor and operate condensate return system to ensure efficient operation.

• Lubricate utility equipment.

• Maintain a clean work environment.

• Report any findings out of the ordinary to Utility Department Supervisor

• Perform miscellaneous facility support activities as defined by the Utility Department Supervisor.

• Continuously monitor and obtain utility meter readings daily.

• Read & interpret documentation such as drawings, manuals and technical bulletins.

• Use electrical tester to safely check power, fuses, breakers and switches.

• Operate a forklift, scissor lift and jenny boom.

• Plan and organize individual work.

• Install service and repair all equipment in a timely manner.

• Have and maintain proper hand tools.

• Maintain good housekeeping throughout plant and shop.

• Mechanics are expected to work in a team environment, on 8 hour shifts plus OT & weekends/ holidays.

Skill/Education Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED or minimum of 2 years work experience at Haywood Company

• Candidate should have 2 years general mechanical maintenance experience

• Must complete the Boiler Operator qualification training in 90 days of employment

Essential Physical Requirement:

• Be able to lift 50 pounds

• Be able to climb and work from Ladder.
