About this Opportunity
Coordinates and supports a variety of projects and programs for the Utilities Department as assigned.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Assists with and manages activities related to compliance with EPA's Lead and Copper Rules and future emerging contaminants regulations.
Performs analysis, data input, and quality control for the ongoing development of the City's Service Line Inventory.
Communicates with external entities including Iowa DNR staff and regulatory and state revolving fund loan staff.
Manages the private hydrant maintenance program and issues related permits.
Manages annual contracts for the Water Distribution team including hydrant painting program, valve and hydrant replacement program, annual material quote, potholing contract, and service line repair contract.
Prepares Council resolutions, other official documents and contract documents, processes contract amendments and purchase orders, and tracks documents through the approval process.
Coordinates bidding activities.
Recommends and implements departmental electronic file structures and document storage practices.
Assists with grant applications.
Gathers, prepares, and coordinates correspondences, reports, lists, files, and other documents.
Coordinates, schedules, and prepares agendas for meetings related to annual programs and contracts; records meeting minutes and creates and distributes written minutes.
Monitors and tracks required insurance documents.
Performs related work as required.
Required Education and Experience
OR
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience. (i.e., one year of relevant experience may substitute for one year of education.)
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population.
Desired Qualifications
Excellent data analysis and data manipulation skills in Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of other database software(s) such as Microsoft Access and/or GIS.
Education or experience within the water distribution sector.
