Recruitment Range: $56,339.00 - $91,817.00

The Department of Information Technology (DIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that DIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities.

Client Services provides technical direction and technical hardware and software support for the computerization efforts to the DOT such as IT purchases, computer/ printer/application maintenance, computer and peripheral hardware replacement, and data management.

This supervisory position uses technical expertise and understanding of business needs to evaluate incoming IT incident and problem service desk tickets to appropriately prioritize and evaluate business impact. He/she has significant technical knowledge and is highly skilled in different types of computer hardware, software, peripherals and components, networking protocols and communications and serves as a resource for other analysts and lower level technicians to help solve highly complex problems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

To receive credit for your work experience and credentials, you must document on your application that you possess all of the following:

  • Knowledge and operational hands-on experience with different types of computer hardware, mobile devices, software, peripherals and components, networking protocols and communications.

  • Experience managing timelines, resources and personnel (internal staff and contractors), and leading implementation efforts to completion.

  • Experienced with customer service skills working proactively to promote positive customer relationships and to mentor others to ensure client satisfaction and organizational success.

  • Knowledge and experience leading and planning IT projects that require directing the work of others with some latitude on actions or decisions.

  • Experience in managing procurement and IT purchases with the knowledge of State procedures and regulations.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, math or engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the position's role; or

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in the information technology field related to the position's role; or

Associate's degree in computer information technology, computer technology integration; networking technology database management, or related areas and three years of experience in the information technology field related to the position's role; or

An equivalent combination of education and experience.
