The Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf (ENCSD) is a state school serving the 54 easternmost counties that provides a specialized learning environment for deaf and hard of hearing students, kindergarten through 12th grade, following a typical school calendar.  The ENCSD offers students an academic setting with standards-based instruction, low classroom ratios, career and vocational skills development, current technology, and an overall accessible environment for learning through American Sign Language.

   A boarding program is available for enrolled students residing outside of Wilson County.  The ENCSD seeks to promote both intentional and experiential learning to provide continued advancement in student academic achievement and social/emotional well-being.

The School has an immediate opening for a User Support Analyst.   This position will provide computing hardware and software installation, configuration, maintenance, technical support and consultation to Eastern NC School for the Deaf staff and students.

 Candidate should be able to participate in basic implementation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting activities for all Windows infrastructure service-related issues, as well as for Apple devices. This would include server hardware/software and their associated applications. Ability to serve as a productive team member by completing assigned tasks/tickets.

Provide communication on all issues to management and other support team members. Possession of exception customer service skills is an absolute must.  Working knowledge of Windows, OSX, iOS, Cisco, Troubleshooting, Active Directory, Assistive Technology, Website Management, Audio/Visual, VoIP.

Working knowledge as demonstrated by an understanding and use of the principles, theories and practices pertinent to area of responsibility.

Demonstrates a range of technical understanding to independently resolve routine and non-routine issues on software and/or hardware and to identify trends and makes suggestions for technical modifications to solve future problems.

Working knowledge and skills from a range of technologies to address work assignments.

Basic knowledge in consultation with clients and other IT professionals to resolve technical problems and ensuring client satisfaction.

Experience working independently on tasks, developing own work, scheduling, and monitoring progress against defined parameters.

Basic knowledge of managing technical projects involving own work and may lead implementation efforts to completion with minimal supervision.

Basic knowledge in solving problems associated with projects and daily work.

Preference will be given to applicants who can effectively communicate using American Sign Language.

Note on Education and Experience Equivalency:

Equivalency can go both ways. If a job has a minimum education and experience of associate degree and two years' experience, someone with a bachelor's degree could qualify.

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution plus one year of experience in the information technology field related to the position's role; or Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the position's role; or  High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in the field of technology related to the position's role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applicants seeking National Guard preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) if they are a current member of the NC National Guard.  If an applicant is a former NC National Guard Member who served for at least 6 years and was discharged under honorable conditions, they must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22 along with their State application.

Applicants with degrees not conferred at a United States college or university must attach a degree verification that their degree is equivalent to a similar degree form a US institution.

Individuals who have earned at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 may be offered employment to teach if certain additional criteria are met.  These prospects must gain employment AND affiliate with an Educator Preparation Program (EPP) before the Eastern NC School for the Deaf can apply for the new teacher's Residency License.
