The User Interface Designer combines a passion for crafting user-centered solutions with expertise in visual design to deliver the best possible user experience for Boston Proper customers.
The User Interface Designer collaborates with Creative, Marketing, and to understand the customer and business needs, explore experience design opportunities, propose solutions, validate them through testing and user response, specify final designs in detail, and measure success.
Translate concepts into customer flows, journey maps, wireframes, visual comps, visual specs and clickable prototypes.
Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes and high-fidelity designs for responsive web and email
Design visually appealing experiences that feel simple, elegant, and consistent
Help to build out a library of reusable components and UI conventions within Amplience.
Collaborate with creative team and developers to bring concepts from idea to launch
Participate in initial planning of digital assets with Art Director to review incoming briefs, address business goals, and discuss messaging and graphic guidelines
Coordinate with Marketing and internal stakeholders to deliver consistently on-brand experiences that meet requirements while bringing value to the customer.
Identify and translate customer needs and motivations into compelling user experiences that visually express the Boston Proper brand
Develop a strong understanding of the competitive landscape and UX/UI standards in ecommerce.
Expected to clearly articulate the reasoning and strategy behind your designs in all development stages to stakeholders
Required to work well both individually as well as a part of a collaborative team that values creativity and flexibility Participating in constructive design reviews and critiques.
Work with E-commerce team on a consistent basis to determine changes to strategy, messaging or timing, and react accordingly
Pre-and-post site launch audit
Preferred Education & Experience:
Preferred but not required - a BA/BFA/BS in UI design, new media, multimedia, communication or related field
Past experience working for a Lifestyle or Fashion company a plus, but not required
Preferred but not required working knowledge of Sales Force Commerce Cloud and Amplience Content Tool
At least 3-5 years experience in the retail eCommerce or interactive space as a User Interface Designer or related role A portfolio that includes visual design samples that demonstrate your core skills across a variety of project types Experience producing documentation including, but not exclusive to concepts, user flows, visual comps, visual specs, and visual standards/guidelines
Solid prototyping experience to explore and communicate design decisions/front-end development using Sketch, Invision, HTML/CSS, or similar prototyping tools
Knowledge / Skills Requirements:
In-depth understanding of Adobe Creative Suite
Strong typography, layout, and visual design skills
Strong conceptual ability and understanding of marketing and branding principles
Curious, detail-oriented thinker with an ability to see the big picture Customer focus is your passion
Interest in emerging user experience trends and new technologies, as well as a forward-thinking mindset Self-starter with an ability to manage deliverables on deadline across simultaneous projects
