The Boeing Information Technology & Data Analytics (IT&DA) division is seeking a User Experience / Product Designer Specialist to lead products from user research through iterative development and delivery in a new and growing organization. This Level 3 opportunity is located in North Charleston, SC.
Boeing IT&DA has launched strategic initiative to build a collaborative and agile platform for data analytics: the Boeing AnalytX Platform is a digital accelerator focused on enabling users throughout Boeing to effortlessly use data to drive every decision within Boeing. Our focus is on using user-centric design as a key to innovative data solutions, empowering all types of users for analytics self-service, and building an active internal community.
This position will place you at heart of a fast-paced, growing organization where you will have the opportunity to partner with project teams to understand business requirements and technical limitations, be responsible for conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes. The UX designer will design the overall functionality of key products of Boeing AnalytX Platform, engaging directly with end-user to design great user experiences.
Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
Partners with project teams to perform user-centered design activities that actively involve users throughout all phases of a project to ensure product usability
Guides product decisions by conducting user research such as interviews and facilitating iterative feedback loops
Defines user requirements, user flows, and usability goals
Creates user interaction design alternatives, and conveys designs by building prototypes and style guides
Conducts iterative usability tests to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the designs
Diagnoses and prioritizes usability issues and refines designs or recommends changes
Contributes to the development of the UX design discipline through development of user-centered design best practices
Provides mentoring to UX design employees to grow the discipline of user centered design and agile software development methodology within Boeing IT

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
5+ years experience with design strategy, design research, experience design and visual design, ideally in either a consultancy or large enterprise
Experience in UX design with an emphasis on whole experience solutions and empathy for the end user
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):
Ability to collaborate with users, clients, product managers, developers, and fellow designers to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision
Ability to determine the user-centered design strategy and lead the Boeing AnalytX customers through research, prototypes, iterative design and development, and the delivery process
Ability to develop the visual design, branding and data visualizations to produce modern, compelling products
Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design
A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns
Ability to communicate design rationale to stakeholders and continuously advocate for the end user
Experience working in Lean/Agile software development and rapid iterative design and delivery of products
Technical degree in Human Factors, Human Centered Design, Visual Design, Computer Science, or a related field is highly preferred
Typical Education / Experience:
Technical bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
