The Trideum Corporation User Experience (UX) Team continues to grow, applying principles of game design, human-machine teaming and user-centered design to serious problem spaces. We are seeking experienced UX Designers to join our team in revolutionizing critical systems for civil, commercial and military domains. Our design philosophy starts with the "who" and "why" questions of technology rather than the technical "how" and "what." We tailor the success of consumer products developed with Agile UX processes to the challenges of complex information systems, including biomedical, aviation, modeling and simulation, and command and control. Our interdisciplinary teams will re-frame and solve problems spanning media ecosystems with a focus on information architecture, navigation, interaction design and other variables of a compelling user experience. Trideum is a small, well-established company of creative engineers skilled in reframing complex problems and focused on serving their community. The Trideum mission is to embrace the world's toughest challenges with a servant's heart. The position is full-time, contingent upon funding award.

Duties:

  • Support all phases of the UX process, including Creative Discovery, Use-Centered Design and Iterative Production

  • Design navigation, interactions, and information layouts for Web and desktop applications, augmented and virtual reality, glass cockpits, and media ecosystems that span multiple form factors and platforms

  • Develop human-machine teaming strategies

  • Design alternative workflows for user decisions and actions

  • Integrate well with teams of software, systems and test engineers

  • Collaborate with multi- and anti-disciplinary UX teams that span the social sciences, visual design, graphic design, information architecture, multimodal design, 3D design and other related disciplines

Travel:

  • Moderate travel to support user testing and events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer-interaction or related field

  • 5+ years' experience in interaction, visual and/or information design

  • Strong skills in Adobe design products and prototyping tools

  • Experience designing in complex problem domains

  • Effective communication and servant leadership skills

  • Prefer portfolios that span mobile, AR/VR and emerging media

  • Eligible for Secret Clearance

The UX designer will be responsible for collaborating with UX researchers to translate data into sitemaps, task flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes. The UX designer will also be skilled at balancing user needs and business demands, and effectively communicating those needs through designs and documentation. The UX designer will also serve as a mentor to junior designers on the UX team. Roles and Responsibilities: * Facilitate the customer's product vision by conceiving, sketching, and prototyping experiences for digital products * Translate research data into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences * Be flexible and iterate designs in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous, environment * Collaborate with team members and stakeholders * Use one or more industry standard design and prototyping tools to create wireframes, visual designs, and interactive prototypes; i.e Illustrator, Sketch, Axure, Balsamiq * Participate in design critiques and take suggestions with grace * Make and articulate strategic design decisions on existing products and conceptual product ideas * Communicate the value of UX to stakeholders HUNTSALMSTR 1NGSPACE Basic Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: * Bachelor's degree in graphic design, industrial design, or HCI-related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in related field. * Demonstrated experience with one or more visual design tool and one or more prototyping tool * Ability to communicate the value of user-centered design to a wide range of disciplines * Experience designing complex systems for DoD programs * Openness to receiving feedback and constructive criticism * Comfortable designing from very low to high fidelity * Experience on an Agile team * A portfolio of previous work * Ability to travel up to 25% Preferred Qualifications: * DoD experience * Active Secret Clearance * Ability to conduct user research and design exercises, such as field observations, user interviews, focus groups, brainstorming sessions, contextual inquiry, and card sorting.
