ROLE DESCRIPTION:

As a senior member of our User Experience team, you will push your creative, problem-solving and people skills to the fullest. You will work closely with product managers, development leads and other designers and user researchers. You will study end-users to understand their problems, generate breakthrough design concepts and craft them into practical, buildable solutions. You will create interactive prototypes as needed to simulate the experience, and return to users to validate your solutions. You will provide detailed interaction specifications and support engineers through the development phase to ensure what you design is built.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS:

What you will do

  • Study users to deeply understand their SSNiFs (stakeholders, situations, needs leading to the right features)

  • Work to understand the business requirements and help sculpt the product vision

  • Generate design briefs to ensure alignment on the problem definition and assumptions

  • Lead the UX design project. This includes deciding the needed activities and coordinating efforts other UX colleagues.

  • Generate models that form the theoretical foundation for great solutions: workflow diagrams, flowcharts, storyboards, personas and more.

  • Work with UX design colleagues in other areas to generate more creative ideas, and to ensure cross-suite consistency and integration

  • Explore multiple design directions to envision the best possible solution

  • Create rapid interactive prototypes as needed to simulate interactions using a tool such as Axure.

  • Design UXes for web, phone and tablet

  • Work with visual designers to make the experience aesthetically pleasing

  • Work with user researchers to do up-front user research, and to validate the product concepts and designs

  • Support engineering to make sure your designs are faithfully built

  • Capture advancements to our standards in our style guide for others to use

  • Conduct Kaizen projects to advance our collective thinking or processes

WORK EXPERIENCE:

About you

  • You have a portfolio of modern, sophisticated interaction designs for web and mobile applications. Experience designing simple consumer-grade products.

  • 5+ experience designing highly interactive mobile and web applications for consumers

  • Meticulous craftsperson with strong attention to detail

  • You know how to cut through to the essence of a problem and extract simplicity out of complexity.

  • Comfortable representing abstract concepts visually with workflows, wireflows, site maps, concept diagrams and other models.

  • Excellent conceptual and big-picture design skills including: user experience architecture, information architecture. You have strong information design skills, can can create layouts that clearly communicate the right story.

  • You are adept at designing both macro and micro-interactions

  • You are up to speed in the latest design trends on both web and mobile

  • You have excellent verbal and written skills. You are able to persuade others of your good ideas.

  • Comfortable building rapid prototypes and scripting interactions to simulate the user experience

  • Comfortable with user research and usability methods

  • You are positive and optimistic, with a constant thirst to learn and grow.

  • Strong work ethic and solid process, while being focused on outcomes.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • At least a bachelor's degree in something. (Your portfolio matters more than how you got there.)

Manager-level will have

  • Richer and deeper skills and experience in the above items.

  • Strong architectural ability.

  • Professional maturity. An awareness of how to get things done within an organization.

  • The ability to lead multiple major initiatives with little oversight
