The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Tax Officer for North America, the US Tax Director manages a team of tax experts and is responsible for leading global tax affairs in the United States, collaborating with regional tax stream leaders (indirect taxes, international & transfer pricing, digital & progress), and ensuring overall US tax governance.

What Will You Do

The US Tax Director will be the in-house technical authority for US income taxes (ideally also for indirect taxes). As such they will become the gateway for all external advice ensuring necessity and stakes to rationalize the engagement. The person will be responsible for raising the general level of US tax technical expertise of the team, through coordination and delivery of technical training and involvement in any eventual recruitment.

Main objectives include:

  • Identify and evaluate all opportunities to contribute value and eliminate tax inefficiency, notably by ensuring robust tax risk management.

  • Conduct a review of our US affairs across all taxes, to include notably the simplification/consolidation of the US corporate structure and modernization/digitalization of existing tax processes.

  • Provide tax and structuring advice for any new or proposed business models arriving in the US market and provide support to the global M&A Tax Director on all US M&A tax issues to include structuring, financing, due diligence & integration.

  • Build clear roadmap for US corporate structure and financing model to support future growth.

  • Strong demonstration of leadership skills consistent with our work community.

What You Will Bring:

The US Tax Director would have the following key skills:

  • CPA (preferred) or Masters in Taxation / LLM in US Tax or equivalent.

  • Around 10 years of US & international taxation experience. Confirmed experience (minimum 5 years) as Senior Manager or Tax Director in large advisory firm or reputable regional advisory firm.

  • Demonstrated high level of technical knowledge of US income tax. Good working knowledge of US indirect taxes, customs & trade compliance.

  • Experience in tax compliance and tax planning.

  • Solution provider capable of simplifying and communicating sophisticated subjects.

  • M&A tax planning experience desired. Experience negotiating investment and other tax credits desired.

  • Strong communication skills. Ability to navigate in a Global environment and to provide guidance and inputs for the strategic horizon.

  • Emotional intelligence and diplomacy to adapt quickly and liaise with different partners. Capable of working collaboratively to build key working relationships and the ability to be assertive but also act with humility as needs require.

The position requires 25% travel including some travel to France, Canada, and/or Mexico.
