A Day in the Life
As the Demand Planner, you will be part of a highly collaborative global, cross-functional team working to develop and implement focused supply chain strategies which support business growth and profitability objectives, including customer satisfaction and product cost management. You will advance and implement strategies throughout each stage of the product lifecycle, including new product launch planning and execution, inventory and obsolescence management, product rationalization, and performance monitoring. You will own and drive continuous improvement within Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning Process (SIOP) assessing variation within demand and supply and proactively manage alignment and communication flows. You will liaise with and coordinate across multiple manufacturing sites and distribution centers which directly impact product availability and customer service level.
Utilize demand history to statistically forecast demand for all products and families assigned (operational forecasts).
Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, summarize data, validate and evaluate forecast results.
Participate in cross-functional reviews to reconcile variances in demand forecasts and refine to reflect updated Sales & Marketing initiatives & inputs.
Keep cross-functional partners, management and manufacturing sites aware of trends, potential changes and upside/downside risks.
Manage SIOP demand planning & regional review sub-process for applicable portfolio, focusing on operational plan change drivers and financial plan gap-closing opportunities.
Support business execution of new programs and initiatives for new product launches and phase-outs.
Support master data maintenance and planning processes.
Use, understand and maintain cross-functional linkages within the organization's demand planning software. (SAP, Manugistics, or other ERP system)
Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
Participate in collaborative projects with cross-functional partners.
Partner with Supply Planners and other Regional Demand Planners.
Monitor key performance indicators to increase effectiveness of supply chain initiatives.
Reconcile annual plans with demand plans and communicate any gaps.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors Degree plus a minimum of 2 years demonstrated results in Supply Chain management, demand planning, production scheduling, and / or forecasting
Nice to Have:
Experience using SAP, Manugistics, or other ERP system
Demonstrated knowledge of use of Microsoft Office products
MBA or equivalent Masters degree with an emphasis on supply chain management or advanced supply chain information systems.
Strong communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with business stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands.
Strong analytical, data processing and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in process formulation, process improvement and project management.
Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of financial and operational impacts.
Building relationships with key internal and external customers based on trust and confidence.
Data gathering and quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business KPIs.
Translating business goals and metrics into business process outcomes and related business cases for specific projects.
Knowledge of finance, sales, marketing, regulatory, R&D and other supply chain functions.
Ability to overcome ambiguity, imperfect data, and the limits of process definition to achieve exceptional and timely results.
Experienced in utilizing outputs from Sales, Inventory and Operational Planning systems to improve supply chain planning and inventory management.
Medical Device or other regulated industry experience.
Experience with large global manufacturer/distributor operations in a matrix organization.
Experience developing and implementing change initiatives requiring collaboration and influence management skills.
Institute of Business Forecasting and/or APICS certification
Super user knowledge of SAP APO and R3 and/or other planning systems
Experience applying DMAIC or lean sigma methodologies
