BRIEF PRACTICE OVERVIEW Established in 1964, Urologic (formerly Urology Associates) is the largest urology practice in North Mississippi and continues to offer the latest innovations in medical technology and surgical techniques for a variety of urological conditions. Our physicians and professional staff comprise one of the most experienced and respected urological practices in the region.
Approximately 20,000 patients visit our facility each year to receive the best in comprehensive, quality care. Our 25,000-square-foot clinic offers the most advanced urological technology, improved utilization of diagnostic and ancillary equipment, and the most efficient use of our skilled personnel. Our state-of-the-art facility allows us to offer the full range of care, from diagnosis to management and treatment of all urological conditions.
The strength and history of innovation at Urologic stems from a patient-focused philosophy and a dedication to the most advanced technology. In May 2023, the practice opened a brand new Urologic Ambulatory Surgery Center located behind the main clinic. Clinical Expectations The urologist will generally see patients in 2 sessions- morning and afternoon.
Generally, they will see 10 patients per session and will have 2 overflow patients per session. Typically, the urologist will see 24 patients in a full day of clinic. The Advanced Practice Providers see their own patients, established patients, and see post-op patients in the clinic.
Office Space In-office laboratory, dispensary, x-ray, CT scanner, and procedure clinic. The practice owns a lithotripter that sits at the hospital. Surgical Volumes Will vary depending on the complexity of the case, but the providers are generally performing approximately 1k cases per year.
Surgical cases are performed at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo and at the Urologic Ambulatory Surgery Center. Call The call is taken at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo North Mississippi Medical Center, a 640-bed regional referral center in Tupelo, holds the distinction of being the largest, private, not-for-profit hospital in Mississippi and the largest non-metropolitan hospital in America. The medical center serves more than 730,000 people in 24 counties in north Mississippi, northwest Alabama, and portions of Tennessee.
NMMC-Tupelo is affiliated with North Mississippi Health Services, a 2012 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient. Area residents have access to a medical staff representing more than 50 medical specialties, as well as centers of excellence in cardiac surgery, cardiology, research, neurology, neurosurgery, pulmonology, rehabilitation, cancer treatment, chemical dependency, and neonatal programs. In addition, NMMC Home Health serves patients in 17 counties in north Mississippi and offers many complex and high-tech procedures that can be performed in the home setting.
NMMC-Tupelo is designated as a Level II trauma center by the Mississippi State Department of Health. To receive this designation, facilities must offer a full range of trauma capabilities, including an Emergency Department, a full-service surgical suite, an intensive care unit, and diagnostic imaging, as well as make a commitment to consistently meet national guidelines or standards in caring for trauma patients. NMMC-Tupelo is one of only three hospitals in Mississippi to receive this designation, and the only one in north Mississippi.
The call is currently 1:5 and will go to 1:6 once someone is hired The APPs take the first call and do consults. They also round on patients in the hospital Monday-Friday. The call is described by the partners as low-stress.
CANDIDATE CRITERIA The ideal candidate would be a qualified urologist who desires to join a well-established practice and has an interest in partnership. Candidates must be board-certified or board eligible by the American Board of Urology. New and Experienced Providers will be considered Residents and Fellows are encouraged to Apply Robotics experience preferred FINANCIAL PACKAGE The desired financial package as we understand is as follows:
A salary guarantee of $550,000 per year equivalent Salary is negotiable based on candidate qualifications and experience. Sign-On/Residency Stipend available Partnership Track 18 months to Junior Associate and 3.5 years to Senior Partner The partnership entails practice distributions, lithotripter distribution, ASC ownership/distribution, full voting privileges in the practice, and stock purchase opportunity Benefits package Health, Vision, and Dental Retirement – our Profit Share and Safe Harbor 401(k) Plan is through Renasant Bank. Employees can start contributing after working with Urologic for 6 months.
Enrollment happens in June and December to start deductions July 1 st or January 1 st . Urologic does match up to 4% of employee’s salary. Malpractice Insurance – Covered by the practice 100% Vacation – 10 business days in the first 6 months, 20 business days each year plus observed major holidays (6). Once there has been confirmed interest, a phone call will be scheduled to speak with the candidate over the phone or via a virtual meeting (Zoom or any other platform preferred). Candidates may be invited for an on-site interview as long as circumstances allow travel. If not, a comprehensive virtual interview/visit can be conducted in place of an in-person visit. Post-interview feedback will be provided within 48 hours.
Quick feedback is needed to keep candidates engaged. We anticipate having one visit for each candidate that will include the community/realtor tour if the candidate desires. After the visit, we should be able to determine whether or not the candidate will be extended an offer.
