The urodynamic technician performs specialized investigative techniques using highly advanced urodynamic measuring equipment on patients with genitourinary problems to study, record, and assist the physician and completes various clinical activities in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a provider. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Exhibits willingness and ability to communicate self as a caring and respectful person, capable of sensitivity responding to patient's needs. • Performs Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) duties to support the clinical team and provide the highest courtesy, respect, and customer service to Orlando Health patients. • Meets and exceeds patient expectations and adheres to established practices while assuring the best possible care for patients. • Performs various clinical tasks including but not limited to Bladder scans, urinary catheterization, catheter care/changes, foley catheter care, medication administration and injections, bladder irrigations, and instillations, dipstick urinalysis with microscopic analysis (includes sending for cultures), pessary care and cleanings. • Assist providers in-office procedures and performs urodynamic & anorectal manometry studies. • Appropriately seeks provider assistance and consultation as needed. • Sets up the necessary machines to measure and record the following procedures: urinary flow rates, cystometrograms, sphincter electromyography, pressure flow studies, urethral pressure profile, EMG of pelvic floor. • Takes and records vital signs, weight, and other pertinent information related to the patient's condition during testing; reports any problem in patients' condition on equipment to the provider(s). • Maintains competencies, including urodynamic testing and urinary catheterization, according to organizational protocols and department guidelines. • Maintains an appointment system to receive patients by referral for urodynamic & anorectal manometry studies. • Cleans, disinfects, and inspects all medical equipment and instruments used for patient care between each patient according to Orlando Health Standard Operating Processes (SOP) and/or department guidelines. • Inspects equipment on a routine basis for damage or repairs. • Lifting and moving is required to assist patients from wheelchairs onto procedural table/chair. • Performs appropriate screening, lab tests, and specimen collection. • Implements quality control standards as required by Orlando Health. • Provides patient with relevant instructions for specific tests and procedures. • Monitors patients during the procedures and follows routine care post procedure. • Performs vital signs, communicates results promptly to appropriate clinical providers and documents accurately in medical record. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions • Assist providers with medical assistant tasks including rooming patients, chart-prep, prior authorizations, and other administrative tasks as requested by the provider or supervisor/manager. • Maintain supplies inventory for procedures. • Other duties and responsibilities as directed by your supervisor/manager. Qualifications Education/Training • High School Diploma or GED • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or Practical nurse program from an accredited college or technical school. • Complete Urodynamic training and demonstrate proficiency within the first 90 days of hire. Licensure/Certification • Maintains current certification by one of the following agencies: • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) (www.nhanow.com) • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) (www.aama-ntl.org) • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) (www.amcaexams.com) • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (www.ncctinc.com) • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) (www.nahpusa.com) • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT) (www.amt1.com) • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) (www.arma-cert.org) • or Licensed Practical Nurse Current nursing license in the State of Florida renewed every two years. • Maintains BLS and Current Healthcare provider certifications. • The applicant must have completed an accredited training program and one year of practice in the field. Experience • Minimum of two years CMA or LPN experience. • Two years' experience in Urology, Urogynecology or Urodynamics preferred.
