0.80 - 1.0 FTE, 64 - 80 Hours a Pay Period

Days/Evenings, Hours between 7 am - 7 pm

Weekends: Every Third Weekend

Holidays: Every Third Holiday

Position Overview:

The Urgent Care Technician is an integral part of the health care team who, under the direction of a professional nurse, assists in the delivery of patient care in Urgent Care and other departments throughout Winona Health as required. The Urgent Care Technician primarily supports nursing functions as planned and delegated by the professional nurse or Urgent Care provider.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of a professional nurse or an Urgent Care Provider, performs duties related to the care and comfort of our patients including, but not limited to; rooming of patients, vital signs, basic wound care, splinting, first aid, assisting with application of cardiac monitor, crutch fitting and training, IV fluid preparation, IV removal, patient rounding and ECG's.

  • Assists the professional nurse and UC Provider with procedures including, but not limited to, set up for procedures, pelvic examinations, laceration repair, and Foley catheter insertion. Obtains and puts away supplies to ensure quality and timely delivery of patient care. Delivers various items to the appropriate areas as needed. Assures stocking of the UC is completed on each designated shift including stocking of supply carts.

  • Is responsible for the cleaning of department equipment, patient care and staff areas. Assist with checking and maintaining oxygen tanks within the department.

  • Is constantly vigilant to the safety needs of patients, taking necessary precautions as warranted and communicates concerns to the professional nurse in a timely manner. Reports any malfunctioning equipment promptly and removes from the patient care area to maintain a safe environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant or EMT program

  • Current BLS Certification

  • Current in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention

Preferred:

  • Previous CNA or EMT experience is preferred
