Summary

Provides emergent/urgentpatient care under the direction of a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitionerand/or registered nurse.

Job duties:

  • Coordinatesflow of patients in the department to optimize throughput; keeps patientsapprised of delays.

  • Observespatients and notifies the provider and/or RN immediately if patient appears indistress. Prepares patients to see the provider; assists prior to, during, andfollowing examination.

  • Insertsfoley catheters, performs complex splinting, and performs venipuncture for thepurpose of drawing blood or inserting a saline lock.

  • Maintainsexam and treatment rooms and other areas. Cleans equipment followingestablished guidelines. Ensures that established standard supply levels aremaintained; orders supplies as directed.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of ONE of the followingprograms: Medical Assistant; EmergencyMedical Technician; Licensed Practical Nurse; or equivalent militarycoursework.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.

  • IV proficiency within 6 months of hire;memorandum of understanding to be signed at time of hire.

Nurse Practitioner Urgent Care Job Description Provides urgent health care services in both outpatient and acute care settings for certain acute or chronic health considerations in specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
