Job Summary

Menlo School seeks a dynamic Upper School Dean of Student Life and Culture to begin July 2024 (12-month position) who will envision, develop, and implement student programming that is joyful and fosters community building and student well-being. The Upper School Dean of Student Life and Culture reports to the Upper School Assistant Director, co-leads the Student Support Team, and supports individual students and the Upper School student body as a whole.

Responsibilities Include: Developing and implementing Student Life programs that promote a positive school culture and support students' development and well-being. Co-leading the advocacy program, in coordination with the Assistant Upper School Director and Class Deans, plan activities, organize orientations and retreats, manage logistics, and support school traditions.

Partnering with the Upper School counselors, EDIB Team, and faculty on the implementation of the Social Emotional Learning (SEL), belonging initiatives, and leadership curriculum. Developing and managing the Student Life calendar. Facilitating Student Council and managing student clubs Coordinating and overseeing assemblies and Student Life department events and activities such as commencement, dances, Global Expo, spirit week, etc.

Partnering with academic leadership to ensure comprehensive and coordinated support of students by taking on the role of case manager for individual students. Collaborating with counseling staff in planning and facilitating parent/guardian education for all grade levels. Working with Middle School leadership to create consistent and coordinated Student Life events, activities, co-curricular programs, and approaches grades 6-12.

Implementing a student-centered approach to upholding the Upper School Honor Code that is grounded in the School's mission and values. Serving as a grade-level advocate. Supporting the Upper School Assistant Director with the tracking of student attendance and low level discipline
