The Department of Computer Science at the University of Arizona invites applications for multiple positions in machine learning. Related areas such as natural language processing and computer vision will also be considered. These positions are part of a strategic effort at the university to build an outstanding research group in machine learning. We seek applicants at all ranks, and are open to coordinated hiring of multiple applicants.

The Department has a long history of research accomplishment, influential software distribution, and substantial external funding. Current research areas include algorithms, architecture, bioinformatics, compilers, computational geometry, databases, high performance computing, natural language processing, networks, operating systems, security, vision, and visualization.

Duties & Responsibilities

The faculty member will develop and maintain a top-quality research program, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, and perform service to the department, field, and wider community.

The University of Arizona South (UA South), a branch campus of the University of Arizona (UA), is seeking an Assistant Professor of Practice who will teach undergraduate courses in Computer Science and Informatics.  The teaching areas of web and mobile app development, networking and security, data analytics, and human computer interaction are especially desirable.  This position will work closely with a student academic support team between Arizona Western College and the University of Arizona for a cohort of Informatics majors located in San Luis, Arizona and will teach distance modality courses to various UA locations across the state and Online. The position is located in Yuma County, Arizona and will require travel to other UA locations. The University of Arizona South is an Hispanic Serving Institution with its administrative home located approximately 80 miles south of Tucson, and multiple additional locations dispersed throughout the southern Arizona region that borders much of northern Mexico. The preferred candidate will hold the Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field at the time of appointment, but the candidates who have a combination of an appropriate Master's degree and relevant practical experience will also be considered. Duties & Responsibilities * Maintain a workload typical for NTE faculty at UA South defined as 80% related to teaching and 20% related to service.
 * Teach undergraduate courses at multiple sites using a variety of formats, including on-line and interactive video/TV platforms.
 * Teach face-to-face courses in San Luis, Arizona. * Contribute to the service responsibilities of UA South and the University of Arizona, in part through participation on committees and student mentoring, including those from underrepresented backgrounds. * Contribute to UA South and the University of Arizona's development through appropriate outreach to local communities (including governmental units, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community residents).
