INTERNSHIP/VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

The Monarch School and Institute is dedicated to providing an innovative, therapeutic education for individuals with neurological differencessuch as those associated with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder, learning disabilities, Tourette syndrome, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, traumatic brain injury and seizure disorders. We offer a learner-centered approach that helps students progress in Four Core Goal areas.

In this position, you will work on a variety of social media-related projects to promote programs, activities and the staff information. The ideal candidate will have strong strategic, organizational and execution skills, be well versed in how brands use social media and paid media to connect with their customers and a working understanding of social engagement best practices.

REPORTS TO THE HEAD OF SCHOOL

EDUCATION

  • Enrolled toward in an accredited college or university in the fields of communication, nonprofit management, business, marketing or related field

EXPECTATIONS

  • Photography experience like understanding of camera functions, lighting and composition.

  • Take photographs of notable events and create supportive content for post.

  • Communicate and brainstorm with individuals as assigned to develop posts in support of our editorial content and marketing initiatives

  • Interview and highlight faculty and staff to post notable events of topics of interest.

  • Assist with content development, manage all social media and engage with our online networks retweeting and reposting where applicable

  • Networks:

  • Facebook

  • Content posting

  • Sharing

  • Instagram

  • Story

  • Hashtags

  • Twitter

  • Updates

  • Links to programs

  • Responsible of creating and posting original content, picture, and video posting 5-7 per week.

  • Highlight birthday posting.

  • Set a schedule to be on campus to attend events or programs to market to our audience. (Hours are negotiable)

SKILLS

  • Writing experience and knowledge of AP style.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel), Google and Adobe Suite (preferable)

  • Experience with developing messages for social media (Facebook, LinkedIn)

  • Possess outstanding oral and written communication skills to conduct interviews and content for postings.

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors to complete work

  • Highly organized and detail oriented

  • High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions range in a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and emotional stress. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Frequent standing, kneeling, stooping, and bending. Ability to move desk, classroom equipment and adaptive equipment. Highly professional, confidential, and friendly environment.
