Purpose of Role

All Lowe's associates deliver quality customer service while maintaining a store that is clean, safe, and stocked with the products our customers need. As a Receiver/Stocker, this means:

  • Being friendly and professional, and responding quickly to customer and associate needs.

  • Ensuring merchandise is accurately received, stocked, and replenished.

  • Following proper lifting guidelines to ensure safe moving and placement of merchandise.

The Receiver/Stocker helps provide the right products to our customers by unloading merchandise from incoming freight, moving it to the sales floor, and stocking appropriately. This associate handles hazardous materials, replaces damaged shelving, ensures equipment is charged, and keeps the backroom organized. The Receiver/Stocker typically works evenings, overnight, or early mornings to prepare for store opening.

Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs.

Although majority of time of time will be spent in activities that do not involve the direct interaction with customers, the individual in this role is expected to engage with customers when the opportunity arises. This includes:

  • Understands customers' needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.

  • Seeks out customers to understand his/her needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.

  • Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions by taking them to areas of the store and walking them through projects when necessary.

  • Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers.

  • Communicates information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs.

In-Stock

  • Receives products from trucks throughout day and disburses product to appropriate department.

  • Down stocks merchandise by looking for empty areas on shelves and replenishing supplies.

  • Stocks products according to Freight Flow Work list and planograms and ensures full shelf capacity.

  • Maintains inventory integrity by inspecting products off trucks, and ensuring items are stocked in their appropriate places.

  • Re-sorts incorrectly sorted items by delivering items to the specific department.

Clean and Safe Stores

  • Takes appropriate steps to clean up, store, and dispose of all hazardous materials.

  • Ensures all damaged items are placed on an assigned pallet and remain in the receiving area.

  • Labels boxes that are partially full and uses box baler to compress cardboard that is sent to receiving.

  • Refuels and charges store equipment.

  • Puts away appliances and organizes back room.

  • Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management and/or Asset Protection.

  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs (e.g., Zone Recovery) to maintain cleanliness and organization of store and working areas.

  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates.

  • Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to one's regular job duties: top stock safety, reinstalling safety cables, use of aisle blockers, a tether line on power equipment, spotters, and safety devices.

  • Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department (e.g., Zebra phone, telephone, paging system, copiers, fax machines, computers, CCTV surveillance system, key cutter, panel saw, paint mixer, flooring cutters, compacter baler).

Required Education/Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 months of experience operating forklift/power equipment such as lifts, order pickers, and similar equipment.
  • 6 months of experience in a warehouse performing inventory handling and stocking.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Some or all of the following (with consideration of Child Labor Laws, where applicable) * Greet and thank customers * Place customer food and beverage orders through verbal communication and/or automated systems. * Relay customer food and beverage orders from service counter to kitchen operations. * Cook, prepare, package and pour food and beverages in kitchen operations by and and/or through the use of kitchen equipment, such as fryers, open-flamed gas grills, cooking vats, ice machines, food processors, and other smallwares while utilizing proper food safety and sanitation procedures. * Stock kitchen and customer service operations with necessary food, beverage, packaging and service materials. * Stock salsa bars with appropriate levels of sauces, condiments, paper and utensils. * Fill food and beverage orders of customers as part of the coordinated kitchen and customer service operations. * Collect customer payments and return proper change to customers through use of cash register. * Unload deliveries of food, beverage, packaging and serving materials to restaurant. * Clean the interior and exterior of the entire restaurant premises. Cleaning work shall entail sweeping and mopping floors, scrubbing, rinsing and polishing tables, seats, windows, doors, countertops, kitchenware, and kitchen equipment, and removing unused items from dining area and litter from the premises. * Observes/follows alcoholic beverage laws, when applicable. * Maintain safe public access to the restaurant. * Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
