NES Associates, a CSRA company, is currently looking for a UNIX / LINUX Lab Systems Administrator to join our mission critical team located in Fort Meade, MD. The successful candidate must have an active Secret clearance as well as UNIX / LINUX experience, with certifications in Red Hat or Solaris highly desired.

The candidate will work as a Mid or Senior level UNIX System administrator of lab systems for a development and test environment. The selected candidate will work in a team to design, build out, document and sustain the lab environment based on shifting program requirements. The lab Labs consist of several UNIX (Solaris), Linux (Red Hat), Windows servers, network equipment (Cisco, Juniper) and many other systems. Individuals who are project and detail oriented would be well suited for this position. There are no telework options for this position.

As the selected Lab Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the following (not limited to):

  • Maintain and operate the lab environment to ensure high availability and performance

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and secure Solaris or Red Hat operating systems and networks, Linux operating systems and networks as required

  • Plan, implement and maintain Infrastructure, and domain administration in a lab environment

  • Develop sandbox environments with various operating systems (E.g. UNIX and Windows) to support test and evaluation, and development of OSS tools

  • Support capacity planning and maintenance of Configuration Management within Lab Environments

In order to be considered for the Lab Systems Administrator opportunity, you must meet he following requirements:

  • 4+ years of proven experience in troubleshooting Solaris10/11 or REHL 6.x/7.x OS issues

  • Hands on experience building, configuring and deploying Solaris10/11 or RHEL 6.x/7.x systems

  • Must have an active clearance (SECRET or TS, min SECRET required)

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Shows initiative and strong work ethic; must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Must have the passion to learn new technologies

Desired Skills

  • Red Hat or Solaris certification is highly desired but not requirement depending on experience

  • Experience working with various SAN technologies

  • Experience with Virtual technologies (VMWare, Oracle VMs, etc.)

  • Knowledge with LDAP, SecurID or RADIUS

About the Opportunity The Mid-Level System Administrator support Federal Government software applications and manage Tier level services at the OS layer. Candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting issues with regards to COT/GOT applications, support IAVMs, and validate engineering solutions in the lab.
