Job Summary / Purpose:

The University Registrar at Maharishi International University reports to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of student academic records across all colleges. This role leads the planning, development, maintenance, and enhancement of student records systems. Serving as a primary resource for faculty and administrative officers regarding student information and policies, the University Registrar represents MIU on related matters. Additionally, this position informs, enforces, and interprets academic policies, and certifies enrollment or degrees awarded on behalf of the University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the management of policies, processes, and operations of the Registrar's Office, ensuring leadership, innovation, vision, and accountability for the management of all records, registration policies, academic calendars, and other related services that support student success.

  • Providing oversight for the integrity and accuracy of student academic record-keeping and transcript production, ensuring compliance with the University's academic policies and standards.

  • Ensuring conformity with educational record use, dissemination, and privacy of student information according to University policies and legal requirements, including the Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable laws and regulations.

  • Overseeing the implementation and effective use of systems for student information, degree audit, and other related systems.

  • Acting as the key liaison for issues concerning all services offered by the Registrar's Office, including the development and maintenance of computerized records and registration systems.

  • Monitoring and verifying student enrollment data for official internal and external reporting related to academic and student records, including the IPEDS, auditors, and accreditors such as HLC, as needed.

  • Cultivating and maintaining effective relationships with faculty, staff, and academic partners across campus and other institutions, collaborating on issues relating to curriculum, university policies, and other Registrar responsibilities.

  • Overseeing training, development, and maintenance of procedure manuals, regulations, and systems within the Registrar's office for the university community.

  • Supporting the creation and maintenance of course schedules, university catalogs, and graduation.

  • Supervising, training, managing, evaluating, and developing staff within the office.

Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, with the ability to align initiatives and departmental planning with broader organizational goals.

  • Proficiency in database management and student information systems.

  • Ability to interpret and apply complex policies.

  • Knowledge of academic policies and regulations.

  • Sensitivity and willingness to interact with people of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.

  • Ability to listen effectively, build strong relationships, maintain good rapport, and openly share best practices, tools, and expertise.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible in adapting and responding to changing situations.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience preferably in Academic/Enrollment Management roles.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA, as well as experience on issues related to the protection of confidential student records.

  • Experience in a registrar or academic records management role is preferred.

  • Experience with higher education administrative processes and systems.

  • Experience with student information systems.
