University Of South Carolina,: Postdoc Fellow/Neuropharmacology And Drug Discovery

The Zhu lab in the Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences at the College of Pharmacy, University of South Carolina, is seeking accomplished and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work on ongoing project funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse. This project is to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms of HIV-1 viral protein-induced dysregulation of the monoamine transporter regulatory network, which exacerbates cocaine-induced pathophysiological changes in monoaminergic transmission, resulting in impulsivity and depressive-like behaviors in the context of NeuroHIV.

Multidisciplinary approaches are available in Zhu's laboratory, including studies using cell culture (cells expressing human monoamine transporters, and their mutants), radioligand uptake/binding through the transporters, Co-IP and GST pull-down assays, transgenic mouse models, and behavioral assessments. Qualified candidates should have earned a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, neuropharmacology, behavior pharmacology or related discipline. Candidates with training and interest in regulation of monoamine transporter are encouraged to apply.

Experience in cell couture, Fast-scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV), rodent behavior testing (cognitive, depressive and drug rewarding effects), or neuropharmacology is desirable. Salary will be followed by NIH stipend levels for postdoctoral fellow but competitive. This position is immediately available.
